Today I got my Complete History of Rickenbacker by Richard R. Smith in the mail. This is suppose to be the most comprehensive book ever written about Ricks and from it I should get a good idea which Ricks I want from my quit smoking fund.I have it narrowed down to the 325,325/12,360,360,12 or 350 for starters.I already have over $50 in my guitar fund after less than a week off the dirty old cigarettes.I could still smoke a 4 ft. cigarette if I give into the cravings but when I do get a craving I go at something else or pick up the Rickenbacker book and see the incentives I have for quitting.

$50 already? Thats pretty amazing.
On a somewhat related note, theres a company called rockinbetter who make what seem to be fairly good rickenbacker copies, but I overheard a guy in a guitar shop say that its owned by cort, so I've gone off them somewhat.

I believe that the Rockinbetter was at one time made by Dillion but where Dillion has some of it's guitars made in Korea,it's quite possible that Cort could be sub-contracted to make them which would put me off them too with Cort's poor human rights record and working conditions. If you could pick up a Dillion and buy a set of Rickenbacker toaster pups for $150 per pickup you'd have a pretty reasonable facsimile of a Rick. You can pick up decent used Rickenbacker 320s and 360/12s for around $1,800-$2,200.

Nevin, there's a place in New Jersey that specializes in Ricks only and they ship internationally.Their prices are about the lowest I've seen for Ricks. They're called Pick of the Ricks and you can see them on line at: http://www.pickofthericks.com/
