Don't worry about it.
Just when you think that your fingertips are as hard as they can get your first layer of callouses will dry out and peel.
And you will have to start again.... somewhat.
But not totally.

i like 10's. my hands and fingers get alot of abuse at work. i don't need my guitar strings to hurt my fingers. i play acoustic almost every day so my fingertips are quite impressive.
dang. is there a post anywhere of everyone's fingertips? i think i might make the top 10.
