Tomorrow Im going to a Pawn Shop to sell my used Dean Vendetta XMT. It has a slight chip on the very tip of the headstock, and a small crack on the laminent on the back. Pickups work A.O.K., just restrung it, made sure the input jack was functioning properly. So besides a few cosmetic damages and the lack of tremolo arm, the guitar is great. Brand new it's $139, and the lowest I've seen is $59 for like crappy shaped ones, so I'm hoping $50 the least, $75 at best. Any advice?

have you tried craigslist? i think you might get more that way, pawnshops have to undercut to make money so they might rake you across the coals. put it on craigs for $75 and see what happens

Great advice. Couldn't have said it better.

If you take it to a pawn shop they'll only give you half of what they can sell it for. If the going rate is $75 you might get $40. Try selling it on craigslist.

I also say you should try selling it privately first. Pawn shops are about the worst places to go if you're looking to get your money's worth.

It used to be said that sodomy and the lash constituted the lion's share of disciplinary protocols within the ranks of the nineteenth-century Royal Navy.

You take that POS to a pawn shop and you may as well enlist as a British seaman because you'll be screwed and whipped the moment you walk in the door.

You'd be very very lucky to get 40% of the true value of it from a pawn shop and will more realistically get 30% tops.Sell it privately-it may take a little longer but at least you won't be getting ripped off.

Give it away to someone who does not have a guitar....For Free. You'll feel much better about it all, You won't have to worry about what it's worth, and the person who gets the guitar from you, will really appreciate it. 8)

I agree with Marvin65. I donated a new Fender Acoustic at Christmas time for a child that wanted one (Christmas Angel program at the mall). It felt good to give someone a start who otherwise might not get the chance. You could check around your neighborhood or talk to your coworkers who have children.

Pawn Shop...??? $15 to $25 is probably the offer you'll get.
Sell there as a last resort only, better to follow advice and list in classifieds.

Usually pawn shops in my area anyway are used bu junkies and thieves looking for a quick buck. Pawn shops are even worse than trading it in at Guitar Center.
