Hi all,

I've seen a bundle of pages on the net telling me what pedal goes first, second, etc. in the chain with differing results but looking for the special Fender forums 2 cents.

Currently, I've got... MIM Fender Strat > Pro Co Rat 2 > Vox Wah > Deluxe Memory Boy > Fender Stage 112se Amp.

Just got the Wah & Memory Boy so will be playing around with config but what would you suggest? Wah or Dist 1st? Also, my amp has an effects loop - should I use it?

And, what would be next? A new overdrive/distortion (liking the look of a number of fuzz boxes), or freak out with something like a crazy modulation pedal or be sensible with EQ/Compressor type stuff. Would be really interested to here what do your suggestion would be?

I'm mostly blues / blues rock mostly improv BTW with a bit of Jazz and Pop mixed in.

Thanks in advance,

Rik

Ta thouston, I've been looking at that one.

I see they've got Wah before Dist/Overdrive. Surely you would want to Wah the dist/over signal or better the other way?

Generally it is preferred to wah a clean, completely untampered guitar signal. Thus, people generally place the wah immediately after the guitar. When you wah a distorted signal things tend to get a bit messy, but that's my opinion. Effects are really about experimentation, though. Try out different combinations of effects (even ones that may seem counterintuitive to you), and you just might come across something you like!
