Does anybody know what years Fender put out Guitar and Bass catalogs after the year of 1976? I've never seen a 1977, 1978, 1979, or a 1980 Fender catalog, do they exist?

Unlike T2Stratman who posted below I never saw any Fender Catalogs in the music stores in the late 1970's when I was frequenting them. I guess I needed a better music store.

Yes they did have catalogs in those years I remember looking at them back then (my high school years), might try to PM Retroverbial, he has catalogs from just about every era...or wait till he rambles by and checks out this post.

I was "indisposed" during this era, Tango-Two (assigned o'seas with my team). And not playing much guitar back then I'm afraid. Frequent deployments to the hot zones in Central America left me living out of my rucksack for extended periods and most of the "music" I played was performed on an M-203.

I guess I missed a lot, eh?

Retroverbial it is pretty amazing how much one misses out on if they are in the military service.

Indeed. I went nearly an entire year (1983) without touching a musical instrument of any kind.

Understand that, I spent most of 08 in Iraq and never even saw a guitar while there, except for the one "moral show" that came to our MOB!

As for music stores...back in the day during high school I lived outside Kalamazoo Michigan and had a '62 Strat and would always go to this music store in the Mall of all places and they had a crapload of Gibsons (go figure!) on display but the only Fenders they had was the odd Tele and only once in a while, so I used to pour over the catalogs from Fender... and wondering why my guitar was never in there! Of course back then EVERYBODY played Les Pauls because of Peter Frampton, but I never felt really comfortable with those as they were just too heavy!

It wasn't a particularly fun place to spend 13 long months, but I did get to play guitar now and then when I was on base. Never gigged there, though.
