In my opinion, this is a what you get when you take fecal matter and shape it into an instrument.

I don't really mind the fact that it uses the U.S. flag and Lady Liberty in its design (The artist has a right to do so), it's just that the design is...ugh. I find it a bit offensive when people try to market stuff to my age group (13-19) because it usually comes out as ridiculous. I would laugh at anyone who even considers purchasing this instrument.
The big companies realize that teens are into rebellious stuff, so in order to make a profit they release crap like this. What confuses me is why this design was slapped onto an acoustic, you would figure the idiots who would consider buying this would be more into electric guitars so they could crank up the volume and annoy their neighbors because they think it is "cool".

The punk movement continues to be transformed into a trend each day, it is no longer about voicing your opinion and fighting those who judge people based on their race, gender, or sexual orientation ect. It is now about sewing on a metric ton of patches onto your leather jacket and walking around wearing skinny jeans and being apathetic.

The hod rod designs were cool. This isn't. It is just ugly. It's marketing to a very narrow group, but I don't think it reflects well on the iconic brand.

Thanks. When I wrote that post, it just looked like a mess of thoughts slapped together in random order and passed off as a forum post. I couldn't come up with anything better, so I clicked the "submit" button and hoped for the best.

Anyways, I just thought of some more things to say about this guitar. As others have said this kind of thing should of been left to the consumer to do. In my opinion Fender should just focus on creating great-sounding and beautiful instruments that appeal to the majority of people who are interested in buying one (Provide a "blank canvas" as Screamin' Armadillo stated). This way, the musician can accept the instrument as is, or they can put stickers and decals on the guitar along with carving/writing messages on it if they wish. It's easy to turn a stock guitar into a custom guitar, but it is difficult (If not impossible with a guitar like this) to do the opposite.

I find it funny that if you look at the guitar from headstock to body, it goes from looking like a legitimate instrument, to a toy. This may just be my personal taste in guitar aesthetics coming through, but that art just makes the instrument look fake.

As previously stated, this is just a way of cashing in on some of the less bright members of the punk/alternative rock community. If you want to rebel, grow a brain first so you can recognize when the media turns your views into a trend and makes a profit. Once they do that, a bunch of idiots looking to fit into a group that is different from all of the others join your ranks and make your "rebellion" look foolish (Nothing's more hilarious than a homophobic Nirvana fan).

Do I absolutely hate Fender now? Not at all, I understand that sometimes companies make some pretty stupid decisions. They still offer the standard, "blank" Fender instruments that attract a great deal of people.

On a side note: Do they still offer this? I skimmed over the "Acoustic" section of Fender products on this site and I didn't spot this.

Not sure. I can't say I've ever actually seen one for sale in a store. Perhaps they've already gone the way of the dodo -- it really is hard to imagine anyone older than 14 being interested in owning one!

It might look ok on the wall of a hard rock cafe in some nowhere of a city.

about 2 years ago Fender asked me to submit a batch of designs that where reminiscent of my old poster stuff. turned in about 6 designs total. they picked this one and another one that is mostly black with a skull and some blood. They had requested 'extremely bold' graphics.

I do believe this was in an effort to reach a different group of people other than their normal customers.

I personally am not a guitar player nor versed in any history of guitars or anything like that.

I can appreciate the fact that this isnt enjoyed by the 'traditional' guitar players, and to tell the truth, its been a while and I had more or less forgotten about it. I suppose it is pretty weird for a guitar.

hey for what it's worth, i bought one of these and love it.

doesn't sound great (didn't expect a $119 guitar to sound like my taylor's), but i love the graphic and all my friends do as well. always been a big fan of kozik.

btw, i'm 48 years old (an immature 48 to be sure...bahahahahaha!)

I found the meaning of that guitar. They had a vision that they'd make a stupid looking guitar, and made it happen. It's a self fulfilling prophecy.

I'd never buy it. I like Fenders for their simplicity and clean lines, not overbearing graphics that look like they were designed by the team of angry 13 year olds who run Hot Topic.
