It seems as though everyone except for our own King Tut grasps this concept. Yesterday, Standard & Poors downgraded the value of US treasury issues from AAA to AA in response to the lameass budget deal cooked up by he and the leaders in Congress......that hasn't happened since 1917. The pharoah will doubtless send his minions out on Monday to spin this but the inescapable fact remains, he's been publicly BITCHSLAPPED.

I find this not funny nor am I loving this for our country. As our fearless leader is holding 35K fundraisers at the taxpayers expense for his relection our country goes down the toilet

The discussion on the US economy is akin to that of someone 300 pounds discussing dieting. They weighed 250 pounds 2 years ago and are planning to reduce their calorie intake in 2 years once they reach 350 pounds. Meanwhile the doctor has downgraded their health status.

The US is acting as if in 2 years there will be some 'magical' set of new variables that will make dieting and exercise easier than it would be today....or would have been 2 years ago.

Obama is a disaster exactly when the country needs a fire snorting drill sergeant for President. The namby pamby approach needs to be replaced by urgent action whipping the country into shape. The draconian policies themselves would be of less importance than the confidence that their is a leader on top of things and some 'direction'.

Whatever you say, pal......

Defense spending in the US equates to less than four percent of the nation's GDP.

The Pentagon's budget has risen for 13 years, which is unprecedented. Between 2001 and 2009, overall spending on defence rose from $412 billion to $699 billion, a 70 per cent increase, which is larger than in any comparable period since the Korean War. Including the supplementary spending on Iraq and Afghanistan, we spent $250 billion more than average U.S. defence expenditures during the Cold War — a time when the Soviet, Chinese and Eastern European militaries were arrayed against the United States and its allies. Over the past decade, when we had no serious national adversaries, U.S. defence spending has gone from about a third of total worldwide defence spending to nearly 50 per cent. In other words, we spend almost as much on defence as the planet's remaining countries put together.
Big slice of the cake right there in anybodys book Arjay

What part of a pie graph don't you understand?

The rest of the world's defense spending has no relevance within the context of the US federal budgetary outlays.
