What everyone should realize is there are a lot of different amp manufacturers out there that do not have the marketing power that Fender has. It doesn't make them bad or cheap sounding amps. I never really got the whole Blues Jr thing from the start. I didn't like it from the first time I tried it. It wasn't the "Classic Fender Sound". Fender marketing says it is, but it isn't. The DRRI IS the "Classic Fender Sound" the Tweed 5e3 is too as well as the Bassman and other Blackface, Tweed, Brownface and Silverface amps. They were amps that defined the sound of a whole generation of musicians in the U.S.

There are lots of amp manufacturers making great sounding, affordable 15-25 watt guitar amps. Egnater, Jet City, VHT, Orange, Mesa, Vox, Ampeg. If you want something decent in a low wattage combo, be prepared to spend a little more than $500 and just because Fender calls something "Tweed" or NOS, remember what NOS means "New Old Stock" it doesn't mean old looking cosmetics and Tweed goes way deeper than just a covering material.

And yes, Egnater makes great innovative guitar amps.

Another hot Egnater Rebel tip:

Too much front end gain for ya? Want a smoother breakup curve? Replace the 12ax7 in V2 with a lower gain compatible tube like a 12ay7, or, (my choice) a NOS JAN/Phillps 5751. Now the amp feels more responsive and takes the input from my Hermida Zendrive way nicer. I can get very close to that smooth, hairless OD that Larry Carlton and Robben Ford do so nicely.

Fear not, it'll still melt your face if you want it to.
