Maybe you should put it on Buddy Holly's Strat... I'm sure it's what he would have wanted...

Sidenote, yes, breaking a string is always a bonding moment. But's it's also pissing annoying when you use Elixirs and they're around £7/$14 for a whole set... and that's a good price!

i would not ruin Buddy's Strat with a Floyd Rose but i would put noiseless pickups in it to cancel humming

I haven't broke a string in a very long time. I bend, pull, dive, pull, and everything else most people break strings doing. Not that I want to break strings, I just cannot remember what I was doing to break it. I do have to admit, I change srtrings regularly, every 3 to 6 weeks depending on whether they start going dull.

Going by your standards for guitars being part of the family, none of my guitars are in my family yet.

yeah cause Single Coils have 60 cycle hum (60 Hz hum) that gets really annoying in overdrive

Super Kid,

to be a better musician and guitarist is not to get more and more guitars and equipment. It is to spend time playing and progressing on even just one guitar and a small amp.

Fenderflamestrat,

Locking nuts and floyd roses are not necessarily better. A well set up strat can stay in tune pretty much as well as a strat with locking nuts. My strat and tele, both with whammy bars, barely ever go out of tune. As far as I know trying to string a guitar with locking tuners and a floyd rose is very difficult. Tune one string, out goes the other, again and again...:)
