Roland has announced that its BOSS MICRO BR multi-track digital recorder has now been updated.

The MICRO BR BR-80 has twice the simultaneous playback tracks of its predecessor, a new effects processor and the ability to reduce the presence of vocal and lead guitar of pre-recorded audio to give players the chance to create their own solos/vocals http://www.bossus.com/gear/productdetails.php?ProductId=1167.

At first glance, you don’t see the different from the original Micro-BR, but the BR-80 has MTR, eBand & live record mode. If you are a beginner and wanted tracks to ‘jam’ along to, you wouldn’t even have to download tracks from the internet. The BR-80, in eBand mode has loops already loaded.

Plus you can change pitch of songs, without changing the key, to learn solos, and it will run on batteries for live recording.

Plus, it comes bundled with SONAR LE, and the BR-80 can act as an external audio recording interface. Meaning you don’t really need any guitar effects plug-ins if recording with a DAW, you can use the built-in COSM guitar/vocal effects.
I have a BR-800, but I just might have to get me one a BR-80.

The Br-80 was announced while ago and some guys have recently gotten their shipments. Hopefully more hands on user reviews are forthcoming. I got the original BR not long ago and am happy with it.

Yeah, I know, it was announced in Germany, and as I've posted before, one of my brothers, Larry Houston, works for Roland
Image he told me about it, but I didn't know it was this powerful.
