So I have been saving since Easter for what was originally a Fender Stratacoustic guitar. Then after playing a Mustang I, I had decided it was a Mustang II that i would like to acquire. Then one day I was playing around with some Telecasters and really fell in love with a grey HH Blacktop. Then yesterday I took a Epiphone Les Paul Standrd in with me to lessons to try it ouy and again fell in love. Afterwords, they were still changing my strings so I was fiddling around with a Fender DG-8s and thought it had excellent playability for the nice price of $200.

So I guess my question is, if you only had the money for one of these items which would you choose?
I currently have $140 saved up from baseball umpiring and Easter. Around mid-September I will have another $300 dollars to add from working at a festival in town. So that will bring my total to $440.
I think I'm currently leaning towards getting the Mustang II because I really want a nice new amp. I also feel like I need to add an acoustic to my repertoire so I really don't know what to do.
So really any input and opinion is welcome! Thanks!! 8)

P.S. Sorry for the wall of text

fenderflamestrat, Brother, sorry, not from a Brother, you're golden here. Input? I'm really bad at math but I have seen numbers like those attached to guitars and amps in stores, so exciting for you, new gear. Hoping for pics.

If you don't have an acoustic, go for that, unless your amp is in serious need of an upgrade.

Huh - well that's what I logged on to say.

Frankly, it's a no-brainer, fenderflamestrat. Everyone must have an acoustic. And luckily for you the lower-mid price bracket is full of amazingly good bang-for-the-buck acoustics these days. Read plenty of magazine reviews and get the best one you can afford. Acoustics are where quality really does count. Good luck.

Cheers - C

I'd have to make a choice between the acoustic and
that grey HH Blacktop Tele. Do what YOU think is right.

Well my amp is very small and it's something I'd like to upgrade soon. I believe it is less then 10 Watts and when I played in a show last year solo I was freaking out that it was about to blow out. So a Mustang II is louder and has features worth the price.

This is exactly what I have been saying to myself. I really need an acoustic. If possible an electric acoustic is ideal. But here's the part that keeps catching me....my sister has an acoustic. I play around with it a lot and think it is a great guitar. There aren't many situations at all that I could think of needing an acoustic for except for maybe playing at our school mass. But this is where I run into an issue.
Her guitar is a J.J. Heart and it it pink with a heart shaped sound hole. So that makes it impossible to play in public

So yes an acoustic that's all mine is ideal but I think can wait a little longer for the sake of a new amp and a REEEAAAALLLLYYY nice acoustic I played yesterday that was $450

Time to break out my buyers guide and look at some acoustics.... 8)
Thanks all!

Don't worry you'll change your mind again before September. A good amp is important (50%) to the sound of an electric guitar. It can inspire you to play more but after you've learned all the bells and whistles on it, it will become just another amp. The acoustic is an entirely different animal and you can find a decent acoustic electric to jam with in your price range. Every guitar player needs an acoustic just in case you get invited to an unplugged event. Keep working and saving. That is one discipline that will save you in the future. You will also appreciate what you acquire because you actually worked for it.

If you are currently playing in a band situation or hope to be soon, I'd probably go with buying a new amp. 10watts usually isn't loud enough for most gigging situations, and for $450, you could get a decent sized tube amp, especially if you buy something used.

I think the Mustang II is plenty loud. Especially in my living situation of a townhome so I can't really get too loud.

I feel your pain! I live in an apartment with thin walls so I'm lucky to get the chance to play amplified at all!

You cant go wrong with a Stratacoustic,it has a lovely Strat Neck, sounds great when amplified and if the power goes you can still hear it well.
