As a lefty player, this one simple thing is all I ask...

I would LOVE to get a MIA lefty P-Bass with a maple board, without having to buy a late 70's model on eBay for $2500-$3500.

If you guys could just do one single teeny-tiny run of like fifty P's and fifty J's to pacify the lefties out there, it would be a dream come true for a lot of us.

We talk about it a lot over at leftybassist.com... as a small group we are ever so thankful that you still produce a couple of lefties for us, but... one thing we can't understand is why we're limited to only rosewood boards... :?:

Anyway... thanks for listening.

I'm appreciative of the fact that Fender's selection of lefty models is actually pretty good compared to a lot of other companies, but I still wish they would expand it just a little bit. I would love to see just ONE(!) lefty Strat or Tele, for example, that comes included with a humbucking pickup (I realize this could be accomplished fairly easily with mods, but I think many of the more technically-challenged guitarists such as myself would enjoy having this option).

With the gazillion different versions of right-handed Strats, Teles, P-Basses and Jazz Basses currently in production, I would think it's at least possible to include a couple more of the normal Fender options (ie. maple necks, humbuckers) in their lineup of lefty guitars.

why do I think that you may get your wish? if you got me with those two sentences you may get the attention of a dream maker as well.

Hey, thanks for the welcome guys!

Sorry I had to use my first post to ask for stuff, but... I've been looking EVERYWHERE for a decent maple lefty P, and all I can find is over-inflated pawn shop eBay auctions for late 70's basses that have the "known" neck joint alignment issues of the era... among other issues.

Add to that, the fact that these pawn shops put INSANE prices on them because they're lefty and they think they're worth more because of that.

Anyway... IMO, Fender is building some their best USA basses ever the last couple of years, so it would be SUH-WEET to see them add a maple board option to the roster... even if it's only temporary.

I already have my "dream" Jazz bass... a lefty Custom Shop '64 NOS in seafoam green that I bought in like-new condition from a nashville session guy... but, I would love to add a real nice P-Bass to the stable.

Let's hope someone out there is listening!

:)

you can go somewhere like here:

http://www.warmoth.com/

design your own body and neck, make them left handed, and then buy them.

Yeah, I know... that's the only way I could get a fretless Jazz Bass, because Fender doesn't offer those in lefty either.

The problem?

It's not a Fender.

So... if I was a smart buyer and ever considered "resale or investment value" into my purchasing decision, Warmoth would be about the worst possible way to go because their resale value sucks.

I have about $1500 invested in my Warmoth fretless, and I'd be lucky if I could sell it for five or six hundred bucks.

The other problem is that some of us like to pay $1500 for a guitar and already have it put together.

So, yeah... I know beggars can't be choosers... but this is a maple fingerboard on a P-Bass or J-Bass that we're talking about here.

I'm not asking for a 36" scale 8 string fretless Bronco with a tremolo.

I'd like to think that the folks at Fender look at these forums semi-regularly and take some of the ideas/concerns/complaints mentioned into consideration when planning their product line. So maybe we'll see that lefty maple fretboard at some point in the future. 8)
