Tomorrow is day 14 on the Champix so it is officially quit day.I spend about $8.50 a day on cigarettes so that works out to about $255 a month but possibly more because some days I'd start on a second pack so it's probably closer to $275.Anyway I figure that if I put that much aside every month in about 6-8 months I'll be able to get my used Rickenbacker 325,350 or 360/12.That's where every cent of smoke money is going to go from now on and in about 10 years I may achieve my goal of having one of every model John and George used...and maybe a couple of Paul's,all I need now is the stubborness and will power,I have the incentive in the way of guitars.

guitslinger, good for you. even though i never have touched a smoke, and never will, i know what a side effect is like. living hell. if the govermnent gave me the option to make smoking illegal i would certainly do it without hestitation. good luck, before you know you'll feel much healthier.

I have total faith in you to do this! I've seen both of my step parents quit cold turkey because they had something worth stopping for.

I think the biggest downfall a lot of people have quitting is that deep down they don't actually want to quit, they just think they should. But with this incentive of nice new shiny guitar gear I'm sure you're gonna blow the habit right out the water! :D

Good luck, guitslinger. You can do it. And when you kick the habit, you will wonder why you didn't do it sooner. Tons of reasons not to pick up another smoke, so all the incentives are there for you. You can do it.

8.50!!!!!?????!!! Must have been some cowboy Killers  ButI know i have nowhere near the smoking history as you do, but its like a three week long thing, if you can make it a three week period without smoking you've won. The first week is going to be a $@!&* and youll relize how addictive that crap is, i mean i literally woke up one morning and the first thing i thought of was the flame caressing the tip of a Pall Mall as i took a slow smooth inhale. But alass three weeks later and I hadnt had the urge since. Pot was a little easier becuz its not addicting, but a little harder due to my brother. Dont get discourage hang in there. life is way greener on the other side. :D :D :D :D Worst case scenario, just get a blue tip thing

I wish you success guitslinger. I've seen people, young and some with more life experience, wanting, planning to quit. Someday they all achieve their goal. I quit smoking more than 25 years ago and never regretted it. Don't fight the dragon, say him farewell and let him go, because there is no more room for him in your new life style. One day we choose to start smoking, I guess we can also choose to quit.

I quit too about 20 years ago. I was a 2+ pack a day smoker and it was tough and I wasn't successful the first few times. I did it cold turkey the last time and it worked well for me. It was well worth it. You can do it. Keep busy and try to stay clear of smokers if you can for a while. Watch the triggers like the first cup of coffee in the morning and the after dinner smoke. I went for walks after dinner and it really helped. I also rode a bike and still do. I honestly don't know how people can afford it today, and they make it really hard to smoke anywhere anyway.

Good Luck!! You can do it.

Sound thinking.

Good luck, Guitslinger. Make it happen, man.

Cheers - C

Good choice Guitslinger! I bought myself an expensive mountain bike very soon after I quit 14 years ago. The reward thing really works! :D

You can do it and we're all behind you!

I quit smoking Guitslinger and I smoked 70 a day for a long, long time and believe me, if I can do it, anybody can. Mind you getting COPD was a big incentive to stop.
That rewards idea certainly works, keep those beautiful guitars fixed in your mind, I used inhalers, drank gallons of strong coffee and kept beautiful guitars in my mind.
Good luck.

Best of luck to you. I quit 8 years ago and never looked back. I saw a comedian that said "nobody smokes for the flavor... if they did they'd make cigarette flavored ice Cream" The next puff i took i thought of that and realized... this tastes like $h!t, why would anyone intentionally suck on this. Quit cold. You can do it. Enjoy your new toy when you get it.

Good luck Guitslinger! The cigs can be a powerful addiction, but I think with the guitars in your sight it might be a little easier.
