I agree, it's a question of relationship. It seems Amy never found her self, and no help she could get or take. It's a personal tragedy, and the world has lost a great artist, a fantastic potential.

Cheers

David

We've all seen this in our own little worlds,I saw one of the most talented songwriters I ever knew homeless on the streets of Nashville,TN.,his body and soul wrecked by drugs...I only saw him for a few minutes and when he recognized me,he ran away before I could even offer to help...that was about 12 years ago and I've wondered if he ever got help and survived.
Of course he wasn't as famous as the subject of this thread,so his story is unknown except to a few of his family and friends....the streets of Nashville are littered with the shattered remnants of musician's lives,so forgive me if I don't shed a tear for whats-her-name.

I'm still at a loss to understand why, with all the publicity surrounding Clapton's rehab center, that she, in the business, and a British subject as well, could not have found her way down there. Seems to me that there would be the go-to place of first choice. :?

Knowing a little bit about addictions, I think that not everyone responds the same
to treatment - - in other words, there's not one treatment that works for everyone.

Also, it would appear that like many addicts, she chose not to get treatment.

Actually, she got plenty of treatment and support, some of it from successive management teams who tried very hard for her. She was in and out of the extremely expensive Priory Clinic, checking out most recently just at the beginning of June. They have as much experience as anyone on the planet at dealing with the problems of the famous and not-famous - a friend of mine has had excellent care from them for clinical depression twice. It's a good outfit: if the Priory couldn't help her I rather suspect nobody could.

She fell under some very bad influences, not least the malign Pete Doherty - she's the second person in his short life who he's initiated to hard drug use and who has then died of an overdose.

But ultimately some people just seem to have their finger hard on the self destruct button. A terrible shame, because at her best she was seriously good, in my humble judgement.

Cheers - C

Amy took so many drugs that she actually wanted to die at the age of 27.

Unfortunately for her it will be Amy who in years to come.

I can't believe she would compare he music to Janis Jopin, Jimi Hendrix, Robert Johnson, Kurt Cobain and so forth. I mean who the hell does she think she was?? Amy may have had talent but just look at her on stage performances, what a waste.....

I don't know where you got that from but to my knowledge Amy never once compared her music to any of those people. Drug and drink addicts don't tend to plan the time their addictions take them over, it just happens.

The idea that she wanted to do this to be known with those greats is somewhat insulting to her memory.

Its a shame she only put out 2 albums. I bet she had enough material for an album ready.

Damn shame.

I understand her last recordings (made in The Carribean during her recuperation there) that were intended for the 3rd album, were rejected by her record company. No doubt they will now be fished out and given to a top flight producer with instructons to press them into some form of release..

Please give this person a break in death that she never received in life. She truly was a talent and unfortunately never really could handle all the lights. The "lights" kill because they take you to a place your probably not ready for. She could have and should have been so much bigger in life but she was not mentally stromg enough to survive the "lights"...God Bless and RIP Miss Amy
