It's not an exclusive fraternity For celebrities only, Drug and Alcohol abuse is deeply imbeded in our culture. Each and every one of us has the potential to join. The really sad part is that this is the day the tabloid press has been waiting for her whole career. Did one of them ever try to really help her, no because a singer with a drug addiction makes great stories.

Surely there are only so many times you can read about yourself being nothing but a drug addict until you believe that that is you and your persona, forgetting that there is a talented human being behind this. Once you truly believe that this is what you are how are you ever going to get out?

OK... So it's the redundant tragic, it was in her DNA , it was bound to happen.

That is all such BS. Nothing in our lives is preordained, this superstition that we follow a well laid out road doesn't stand up to scientific scrutiny.

Rather here again, you have an infantile, immature personality who was basically a cash cow for a group of people.

Where was her manager.. Where were the people supposedly close to her whose obligation was to her ( the product ) to keep her safe and healthy and for lack of a better term, Babysit.
The Entertainment world as well as the Sports world is full of tragic stories of Wunderkinds unable to comprehend the demanding reality of Fame due to their above average abilities.
At 19 it is the rare exception who is mature well beyond their years, to be able to handle the 24/7 demands that they find themselves in.
We the public, go home at night and relax, the Wunderkinds cannot. There is always a demand if not here tonight, then over there tomorrow which happens to be a 12 hour time difference thus it's right now. That scenario is constant.

What I just voiced may sound obtuse but it is rather simple when taken to basics. As human beings we all need downtime away from the pressures of our lives or eventually we crack.
In this case it once again took an ugly turn.

How long do you all think it will take before we see the first advertisements of her published demise, in capital letters adorned with Neon and sold to the masses as a million dollar seller Posthumous Autobiography..
It's rather obscene, sad and illuminates just how much of a throw-away culture we really are.

Nothing anyone else says or does can stop them being self destructive dopeheads. They need to decide themselves to stop. 100% their own decision.

It's not the familiy, not the press, not friends, not pressure , 'no nuthin' but themselves.

Don't do drugs or you may end up pathetic and then dead. Nobody but yourself to answer to.

Quitting hard drugs like what she did isn't anywhere near that simple. Even if one gets off the drug, for the rest of their life they have a huge risk of giving in and going back. Quite frankly there is no getting 100% better.

Condolences to your Family and friends Amy RIP

To all those treating it as if it was expected and commenting on how it's another junkie... show some respect.

A real, genuine shame. No one deserves to die (with the exception of Rupert Murdoch, maybe), and these were tragic circumstances. She came from a very warped background, and had a lot more to deal with than just drink and drugs- abusive husbands, serious family problems and massive self-esteem issues, apparently.

I wasn't the biggest fan of her music, and definitely not her conduct when playing live, but she had talent and charisma... nice to see a fronting singer who can actually play an instrument, as opposed to being a corporate shill...

Bad times.

OK guys! Let's exchange points of view without turning this into another one of our famous threads. There are several basics in this whole issue which cannot be ignored:

-one has to be totally disconnected culturally, particularly in the entertainment world, to have no idea whatsover of the impact of 'drugs' on the human condition.
-you have to be afraid enough of it to not even attempt to open that door
-you cannot determine, for yourself, how receptive your particular neurophysiology and psychological makeup is going to be to these chemicals.

By certain age, maturity and wisdom is expected to prevail, after which 'stupid is as stupid does', is the operant phrase. JJ Cale's way of putting it is the classic we all know, made famous by an artist who has been there and back:

"When your thing is gone, and you want to ride on cocaine, don't forget this fact, you can't get it back, cocaine." "She don't lie, she don't lie, she don't lie....Cocaine!"

Getting her down to The Crossroads Center might have been her saving grace. The world will never know.
