I am in the same situation as you, but when I go home I have a very energetic 1 year old who doesn't like to sleep. I don' remember the last I had some quality time with my guitar.

I've been laid off for two weeks. I can't believe how little time I've devoted to my guitars. :(

I only get to play in the evening (currently working 9-hour days), but the Music Room's in the basement, the kids are grown and gone and the wife doesn't mind. So I get a good couple of hours a night if I want to.

And I'm still playing out on a pretty regular basis, which is nice.

Thanks, but I could use some time away from the rat race. I expect something will turn up for me quickly so I better plug in and jam while I can.

I keep my old MIM Strat here in my office just for such an occasion. :D

I'm retired and finally can spend all the time I want with my guitars. My wife wanted to occupy a good portion of my time so I got her a MIM Strat and started her taking lessons. Now she practices with me probably more than me. 40+ years in the OFICE away from guitar, almost set me back to square 1. But as the man said I'm alright now. 8) :) :)

I aspire to reach that goal. It is 6 to 11 years away depending upon which financial planner you ask.

Very sorry to hear that. Yeah, I think I'll stop complaining about being at work now. I can relate to what you say.

Sounds like you might have the financial ability to rest a while or you feel you can get a new job pretty quickly, so good for you in that regard. Good luck. :)

I'm in an industry with a lot of ups and downs, literally and figuratively -- aviation. I got caught unprepared once and it cost me nearly everything. I've since taken steps to assure it wouldn't happen to me again.

Thanks for the support!

I'm a lucky man. I work from home and get to steal a few moments (oh, ok, an hour or so!) every now and then. Not as much as I'd like, though. Gotta make a living.

Amen. It's a shame life puts so much emphasis on money.

about 30 years ago i sold most of my stuff. wasn't playing out much- used the money to put toward our house when we got married.

kids came- had 2 serious car wrecks suffering concussions in each. didn't pick up a guitar for about ten years.

1n 2002, i was out of work for the first time in my life. it was around the time of my birthday, so my wife and family got together and bought me a squier strat pack. i couldn't believe it. started practicing like crazy. now have 4 guitars, 3 amps, and i play out on occasion.

for me now, the guitar is therapy. the misses leaves for work 2 hours before i do, so i get about an hour of loud time in the morning, and plug the headphones in at night
