Diane Birch -- love her debut album.

She really seems to have the total package: great songwriting, great voice, and she's hot! Kinda surprised she isn't a household name yet.

Wow!
That is an awesome performer! Her voice is like a whiskey-tinged Carol King. Love the song, the band (they were using Fender guitars!), the instrumentation, the horn players knew when to shut up (a dicey proposition a lot of the time)...

Loved the lyrics--"an absent-hearted man..." 8) Such cool imagery...

Plus, I like how her bangs get down in her eyes...that's such a hmm-hmm-hmm look...very pretty.

Why is she not a household name? Because Disney or American Idol isn't cramming her down our throats on a weekly basis...hopefully, her time will come.

Thank you for mentioning her...I think she has a new fan.

You're very welcome, sir! I saw DB and her band perform in Toronto about a year-and-a-half ago and I was really impressed. She definitely has a Carole King-vibe going. Well crafted songs with thoughful lyrics, and backing band complements her perfectly. It's always great to see newer artists on the scene whom you can get excited about...

I'm skimming through this thread and all of a sudden a name - posted by WhatsThatSmell (thank you, WhatsThatSmell) - jumps out at me. BB Chung King. I hadn't heard that name in over a decade, and I doubt I ever heard his music. As a matter of fact, I didn't have any idea if the guy was a serious musician or what, or what he even was.
For whatever reason, I jumped to youtube and checked him out. My mind is officially blown. The man is as serious a blues guitarist as there ever was and an excellent songwriter. Wow. Let's just say that because I rarely have time to listen to many CDs I rarely buy anything unless I really want to hear it, and I've got a Buddaheads CD on the way.
Long live Alan Mirikitani, and may his freak flag wave high.
SB :D
