Dread Zeppelin.
Seriously funny.

Amy Winehouse.
Yes, that one...everybody has concentrated on the trainwreck she became (how's that for an argument against drug use?), but that girl had vocal and songwriting chops to spare, and could even play guitar a good little bit. Listen with your ears and not your eyes, and that woman was amazing.

Storyville.
Double Trouble with twin Davids (Grissom and Holt) on guitar(s) and one of the most amazing vocalists in the world (Malford Milligan)...plus there were five good-to-great songwriters in that group.

Chris Isaak.
He did/does more than "Baby Did A Bad Bad Thing" and "Wicked Game." Orbison-esque voice, and he knows how to put together a band...and Lady Armadillo says he has nice hair.

Cheeseburger is too good to be so unknown (outside of [as] viewers that is...)

I've noticed that people often completely overlook non-Double Nickels Minutemen

Youth Brigade may have only released one EP, but it was bloody amazing and they are often overlooked.

The Von Bondies. Not everything is good, but some songs like Been Swank,
Mairead and Shallow Grave are just insanely enjoyable.

Also Jason's (the vocalist/guitarist - Von Bondies) new band The Hounds Below is amazing and totally under appreciated.

I'm going to say Vito Bratta of White Lion. I don't think he is necessarily under appreciated in terms of the guitar community, but i think because he was a member of an 80s "Hair Band" he goes a little un-noticed. But he is one of my favorites. Great tone. Great melodies. And just blissful clean playing.

+1! I've always though Vito Bratta was an excellent guitar player. He hasn't been heard from in awhile -- hopefully, he'll resurface at some point.

Diane Birch -- love her debut album.

She really seems to have the total package: great songwriting, great voice, and she's hot! Kinda surprised she isn't a household name yet.

Wow!
That is an awesome performer! Her voice is like a whiskey-tinged Carol King. Love the song, the band (they were using Fender guitars!), the instrumentation, the horn players knew when to shut up (a dicey proposition a lot of the time)...

Loved the lyrics--"an absent-hearted man..." 8) Such cool imagery...

Plus, I like how her bangs get down in her eyes...that's such a hmm-hmm-hmm look...very pretty.

Why is she not a household name? Because Disney or American Idol isn't cramming her down our throats on a weekly basis...hopefully, her time will come.

Thank you for mentioning her...I think she has a new fan.

Mott The Hoople-a lot of people only associate them with All The Young Dudes and possibly All The Way From Memphis but they turned out some fine albums over the years.

good call, Tommy took rock guitar to another level setting the stage for coming great guitarists and influencing already established guitarists like Jeff Beck who he was on tour with when he accidentally overdosed.
+1 for guitarslinger and Mott the Hoople/Ian Hunter. Who can forget "Cleveland Rocks" .
