Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

If I was only limited to 2 pedals they would be a wah and a fuzz-preferably a Vox Clyde McCoy and a Big Muff Pi.

Hmmm very difficult to choose. Based on your amp you don't need reverb. I play a peavey classic which has nice overdrive channel (to my ears anyway). It's my understanding that it takes a lot to breakup your amp. I could be wrong.

I'd think you need something to give you a little dirt for your blues. The most versatile pedal may be an EQ, but I'd also consider an overdrive or compressor for your country pick'n. Only caveat is that it needs to be true bypass (or close to it). From now on I am only buying pedals of this nature.

A TS9 TubeScreamer is a great overdrive; reacts well with all the styles you mentioned.

IMHO, ignore the true bypass hype. Snake Oil Salemen, Brothers-in-law, Caveat Emptor and just general BS is my opinion about that highly touted feature.

Thanks, I like the way you think. I'll check one out today.

Check out the Blackstar pedals Danny, like yourself I'm no expert but I know what I like, sunk without trace the other drive pedals I tried against it, just get in amongst them and try everything you can lay your hands on.

i'm quite fond of my TS-9 also. it's my "in between" clean and dirty sound. i hardly crank the drive at all. i also use it as a boost for leads. good pedal.
good luck with the search.

I respect your opinion but I have to disagree. I can tell a difference in tone/sound straight into the amp compared to running through pedals. Most noticeable playing clean. The less my pedals color my "Natural" sound when off the better.

I plan on picking up a BOSS SD-1 Super Overdrive. I played through a lot of different overdrive pedals, and to my ears, nothing came close to the SD-1.
