Thanks. yes, it does need a little more high end. You think the vibe pedals are sucking the high end?

Sounds good. I'd leave the lower end in. Hendrix used more low settings on the Marshalls.

I guess to compensate for the high end tone of the strat?

At the very start, Jimi had Jim Marshall change out some trans. etc. He didn't like the high end sounds everyone else used. The low end pushed was the base of his power. Listen to the controlled feedback.

Ahh....so Jimi was also a tone chaser as well.

Possibly, what pickup do you have selected, id run with the bridge pup. Im not a super effects guru so I have no idea exactly whats going on in terms of the high end, idk how high is treble on your amp, id personally have it around 6,
*Edit, just saw it was on ten, hmmmmmmm maybe mess around with the aqua $@!&, my chorus ensemble sometimes on the right setting causes a bassier aftertaste

That really is the way to do it. Sometimes you can mess yourself all up by doing to many settings. Write down you settings, both amp and guitar. Take digital pics of settings. Anything that will keep it from getting to jumbled up.
+1

Here's how I do it. YMMV. No digital effects whatsoever. I have a 70's Fender Fuzz Wah the old huge cast aluminum job with the blend controls no IC's it's all transistor. and old 70's Ibanez Phase Shifter. The Phase Shifter gets just enough modulation, and old cheap cords are fine they knock down any brittleness. I can't pinpoint it but something's off. The distortion doesn't sound smooth enough to me. Maybe try working with the tone controls a bit. Your pretty close. Digital effects kill the whole psychedelic vibe. We never had anything real fancy way back. Listen to some old Iron Butterfly or Jefferson Airplane stuff and you'll see what I mean.

Thanks 63supro. I guess at this day and age, it would be pretty difficult to find guitar effects without any hint of IC's. Perhaps, I can hunt down some actual pedals from the 60s, but I'm sure that would cost a fortune. An actual Dallas Aribtar Fuzz Face has a premium of about $400, and an old tape echo echoplex is in the $1000 range. I used a current Dunlop Fuzz Face for the distortion. I rolled the guitar volume about 7 just before it would fuzz out.

Check out Build Your Own Clone. http://www.buildyourownclone.com/ Or General Guitar Gadgets. Lots of analog stuff, even an Octavia clone.
