Always room for another fellow named Dan. I think you'll find this to be a very cool place. There is no end of knowledge here. And fun to. 8) :)

Hi Dan,

Some very nice pic's of your guitars but if your going include your socks you'll have to meet this forums high standards.

:D

Seriously though, some more details regarding the finish and build of your Strats (the first one in particular) please! Inquiring minds and all that!

Cheers!

Thanks for all the interest guys... Andybighair nice socks, I must try harder next time
Liking your guitars!

Well the story with my custom strats where shall I start?

The cream one was the first one I built. It was meant to be my Hendrix tribute guitar. Hence the neck plate. The body on that one is from a special edition squire strat. Its a blond nitro finish. Its got a Semour Duncan little 59 pickup. The neck and middle pickups are from a 2004 usa delux strat. The neck is a fender usa neck. I refinished the headstock with new fender transfers.

The Dark strat is a different story. After building the blond guitar I wanted to make something completely different. I bought the neck from a friend who had it custom built for him out of Brazilian cocobola wood about 20 years ago. Never been fitted to a guitar just sat in his basement! I decided to go for a Brazilian wood theme. I had the body custom built for me. I sourced the wood from a local timber merchant. I really wanted to give this guitar a dark look. I bought all the black hardware. Its been fitted with a set of scn fender pickups. Once I had all the bits I spent the day making it all fit together. I had to make some alterations to make it all fit together. With the aid of some beers I had it playing that evening.

I have built a number of guitars. The dark strat was the hardest and most rewarding.

Its been used quite alot at gigs still looks good when polished up..

Not only does our esteemed colleague make a good point, but bear in mind that anything you write herein becomes public domain. If you 'Google' your Forum User Name, your admonition is going to be forever immortalized. Too late to delete it, I'm afraid. However, I understand that DeBeers produces a product which might go along way to healing. Five Karats worth of therapy might just do the trick. 8)
