Yesterday afternoon at a Bluesfest in Ottawa,ON,Canada,Cheap Trick had just finished a song when the stage that were playing on collapsed from the top down.People figured something was wrong when immediatey after they finished the song they all started running backstage. There had been high winds tearing at the rigging all afternoon but Environment Canada thinks that the collapse was caused by a weather phenomenon called a downburst which is caused by a sudden pressure drop in a small area where higher pressure air rushes in,often with the power of a tornado.I hope that Rick Neilson's '59 burst wasn't hurt.BTW there were only 3 minor injries and no bandmembers were reported hurt.

I didn't see any video of this but it sounds like the same phenom that caused the massive dust storm in Pheonix AZ last week.

I saw a few shots of it, and yes it was fast and sudden, in Ottawa they do it right for many reasons, but as always there is a certain amount of unforseen events that can take place that no one can predick, and thank god the band members are ok, along with the people in the crowd, I saw from reports that three were sent to hos, four others, were checked out but ok, shades of woodstock, could have been a mess.

Yes, but the wind and hot air still carries you dollars there, and as they drift away from you never to be seen again, they land in Otto's yard.

Does anyone know if my old '75 Fender Telecaster Custom-Deluxe that Robin Zander uses was destroyed in that collapse? I haven't asked of the band's management, being more concerned with my friends...I gave it to him backstage in Saratoga in 2009 and he used it quite a bit on "I Want You to Want Me"....Anyone have any info? Thanks!
