and went through on one run and wrote down the name and MSRP on everything I saw that I wanted. Let's just say I need to win the lottery.

Here are my total costs:

Guitars

Most Expensive: C.F. Martin & Co. D-45 Authentic 1942 MSRP $59,999
Least Expensive: Kramer Pariah MSRP $667
Total Cost: $103,667.85

Basses

Most Expensive: Hofner 500/1-62 1962 Reissue Violin Bass MSRP $3,189
Least Expensive: B.C. Rich Warlock Revenge Bass MSRP $470
Total Cost: $9448.99

Amps

Most Expensive: Hughes & Kettner Tommy Thayer Duotone MSRP $2,999
Least Expensive: Fender Mustang II MSRP $199.99
Total Cost: $15,166.94

I like some of the guitars in there but have never heard of the brand so I didn't add most of them. I really need some money  Oh, and I don't play bass so those are just buy to have things. I also don't know where I would put all of this but I'm sure I'd find a spot 8)
So......the final total is........$128,283.78
8)

those books always depress me, everything i like costs the most and everything i have is the lowest. ALWAYS. I got a vinyl price guide to check each record as i clean them and put them in my collection never get the high priced ones ever. Just not lucky that way.

Got a les paul copy in my sights right now for about 400.... then a MIM tele and the upgrade parts for that.... a nice tube amp.... and finally a warmoth custom strat. That might satisfy my GAS for a week or so. Just gotta remember not to look at any PRSs

In the listening thread, I'm always tempted to link to mediafire dl's of my favourites, but then I remember this forum is way stricter than most and it's full of old people who don't wanna hear a bunch of punk rock

I think that GWs idea of putting scantily clad women in their guitar guides is just a money making racket to get kids that are too young to buy Playboy etc. to buy their guides.Personally I much prefer the Guitar Player Guides as they focus more on the instruments than the shapely eye candy that GW plasters their guide with.If I wanted to see scantily clad or naked women I'd buy a skin magazine or buy the missus a bouquet of flowers lol. but they have little to add to a guitar guide.

Exact words of my mother when she asked why I wanted it.

I like guitars and I like chicks. Sure catches my eye...exactly what the publisher is after. Wrap a naked girl around a guitar and I'll stop and look at the product.

Re the OP and expensive axes. I find it more pathetic that there are guys out there who buy these toys. I'm far from poor but would never spend more than $1500 on a new guitar. Actually I never spend more than $700 or so because that's what I spend getting these higher end axes 'used'.

I have never played a guitar that cost more than $1500, acoustic or electric, that feels better or sounds better than one under $1500. The 3 best guitars I've ever played all came in under a $1000.

I totally agree with you man. Even if I could afford a $60,000 Martin, theres so many better things I could buy, such as 60 equally as good $1000 dollar guitars or like 6 CS Fenders. 8)

The only pornography I allow in my home is guitar or harmonica porn; therefore, I do not buy these guides.

I like ALF's response to his views on poronography: "I don't know, I don't own a pornograph..."
