Hey folks. AS promised, here is the progress on a new project.

It's probably not too exciting but I'm stoked to be doing it.

Basically, a few months back, when I started really taking an interest in building and upgrading, my cousin asked me if I would build him an electric. As I had done absolutely no actual scratch building, I told him, as I was new to the whole thing, why didn't I do n upgrade of some sort.

I told him to pick any of the 'cheap and nasty' strat copies I had lying about and I would upgrade it and make it nice and, as he is family and approaching the big 5-0, I would do it as a birthday present.

He told me, 'surprise me'.................................

Bugger...................I have a few cheap guitars that need some serious TLC and, because he already has semi decent Ibanez thing i had decided to lump for a little Washburn thing I got off e-bay. I thought I would through in a real Floyd Rose and some nice pickups and some locking tuners and give a new coat of paint.......................pretty bog standard stuff.

Then last week I was doing some nstallation work for a neighbour and he asked if I had any use for an electric guitar he had in the cupboard that he didn't use......well does a bear $@!& in the woods?

So here it is............a Westfield Strat copy, probably about 5-6 years old and been played once.

It's actually a nice, subtle blond colour, the camera has made it look more yellow.

I got home and plugged it in. It had the stock pickups which are utter rank, but I was stunned by the things playability!! So all of a sudden I had my guitar to mod.
The finish is in perfect condition, the neck needs a bit of oiling, the frets are in great condition.
So I pulled out the 'parts box' and had a bit of a rake.

SO there's a set of Grover locking machine heads, a gold MIM Fender bridge, some gold knobs, an ashtray cover (no use now that Arjay has explained why the thing wouldn't fit..... ) and a red tortoiseshell Mighty Mite loaded pick guard and matching trem cover for the back.
Image
the tuners still have the little white plastic coverng on them...........
Image
great condition for sitting in a cupboard for a few years........
Image
Grovers on.....no drilling required.......
Image
Gold bridge and jack in place..................
Image
FRets in perfect nick also...............

So a quick mock up before I put in the new pickups......am thinking Fat 50s in the neck and mid position and an SSD 5 in the bridge...........then it will be time to sort the headstock.....am thinking of making it red!!
Image
WIll get the soldering done tomorrow and get the headstock sorted out over the next couple of weeks.............pretty chuffed so far.
