Hey guys, I said earlier in the week I was working on a couple of new projects and I have been photo-ing as I go but I have hit a couple of snags and rather than trail the interweb for answers I am asking you bunch of knowledgable folks for a bit of assistance..........

I have a 'pre-loaded' pickguard I am placing in one of my Strat projects and it has an 'extra' wire(it would seem)
It has the wire that goes to the input jack, I know that one so that's ok.......
But it also has 2 other wires coming from the volume pot...............I know one should be soldered to the claw for the tremolo but the other has a small ring at the end as if it should be placed over the screw of the claw................

Am I being really stupid? Should I use both on the claw? Why can't I get photobucket to load so I can get you a pic?

Second question is probably extremely daft but......
I got a bridge cover to go with the new bridge I bought but can't seem to get it to fit on...........is there a trick to it? Should it be a certain size for certain bridges? Am I a complete pillock? SHould I give up now on upgrading?

  :? :?

I have a feeling Wookee is being stoooooopid again but any help would be greatly appreciated!!

And once Photobucket decides to behave I will post pics of my progress so far.....

Cheers guys!

The Strat's "ashtray" bridge cover fits only the vintage-spec trem or hardtail bridges, with 2-7/32" string spacing and bent-steel saddles.

That also is a ground wire that should be screwed to the floor of the control cavity if the guitar has shielding in the cavity on or under the paint.

Did the guitar previously have a screwed down wire? If not, you don't need this one. Snip it off at the base of whichever pot it goes to.

Nah, Crack on!

You can use your now spare ashtray to rest your victory cigar in once you've got your Geet up and running. A Big Hairy Bonus right there! :D

Oooh! What bridge pup is that? Looks to me like its made like a mini P90...

Actually......there's another question!

This a preloaded Might Mite tortoiseshell pickguard. A set of Mighty mite pups. I have, a neck and a mid fat 50s, a 54 Neck, a couple of SSd 5s and an SSD 1 as well as a couple of OEM Fender pups............

Any suggestions? I would like a fat 50 in it (it's actually a 50th birthday present for my cousin and i keep referring to him being 'fat and almost 50' but I am open to suggestions)

The Fat 50's middle pickup is RW/RP so you'll get hum-canceling in positions 2 and 4. That entire set is one of my favorites in fact.

YUp, I love the middle and neck. I don't know why but I just don't gel with the bridge one though........no idea why. AM thinking the fat 50s and an SSD 5 in the bridge......... :? maybe.......
