Well I'm toying with the idea of buying a new amp. I currently have a Crate TX15 and let's put it this way: it's not getting it done.

So I'm thinking of getting something new but not too expensive 400 euros max. (that's about 500 dollars people across the ocean). For 400 euros I'm looking for the best bang for the buck... but I have absolutely no clue what's best...

I'm mainly a blues, rock and jazz player so it has to sound pretty darn well clean. But I'm expecting a rather nice overdrive tone.

Any help you people can provide will be used... I know that the try it yourself policy is the best but you people have some nice tips

It's not really urgent but it's nice to study the market :D

Despite this being a Fender Forum, in this opinion, the Line 6 Spider Jam is an amazing piece of work for the price ($399 in metro Chicago).

No, it's not tube, no, it's not pure, but 'have had one for a year (after doing some hard shopping) and that "little" critter can deliver a positive mega-gaggle of sounds. And is big enough to small-gig with and you can plug a mic into and it has a built in drum machine and gobs of presets. It gets daily-plus use.

Look into the Fender Mustang amps or the G-Decs,the Blues Jr. has beautiful clean tones for a laid back jazz sound but the overdrive is great for good old rock and roll or gutsy blues sounds.I also love the Marshall and Vox hybrid amps as they are very tubelike in their tone and performance plus their onboard effects are astounding especially in the Vox and they both have modeling very close to the amps they are meant to sound like.

I did try out a nice Vox hybrid once and if I'm correct the sound of the little beast was really nice and with good onboard effects.

But it was nearly a year ago, I played it for about 45min with an Ibanez SV 5470F...
That blue flamed maple top was something alright. I really liked the guitar but the Stratocaster was yelling at me across the street.

I'm going to give a try to the Mustang if I can find it here. I also heard some great stories of the Blues Junior :)

Best amp? Get a Dumble.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

I'd like to try out the Dumble amps but how on earth can I find one in Portugal...

Until 5 minutes ago I've never even heard of them.

Yeah they're that popular here in Portugal... if I strugle finding some Fender amps imagine finding a Dumble

A Fender Blues Jr. is a great amp for $500. (U.S) or less. Great tone for the money. Good luck, Hope you can find one. :)
