For my birthday I got an Guitar from GC and my dad bought me three years of the repair pro coverage extended warranty. I want to know if changing my pickups, voids the warranty?

I have never used their extended warranty but I did see this non-covered "clause" in the warranty prochure.

G. DAMAGE FROM ACCIDENT ON USED PRODUCTS, DROPPING ON USED PRODUCTS, ABUSE, MISUSE, MISHANDLING, INTRODUCTION OF FOREIGN OBJECTS INTO THE COVERED PRODUCT, UNAUTHORIZED MODIFICATIONS OR ALTERATIONS TO A COVERED PRODUCT, FAILURE TO FOLLOW THE MANUFACTURER’S INSTRUCTIONS, AND EXTERNAL CAUSES INCLUDING THIRD PARTY ACTIONS, FIRE, THEFT, INSECTS, ANIMALS, EXPOSURE TO WEATHER CONDITIONS, WINDSTORM, SAND, DIRT, HAIL, EARTHQUAKE, FLOOD, WATER, OR ACTS OF GOD; AND CONSEQUENTIAL LOSS OF ANY NATURE;

I would give them an email to clarify this though. By using email, at least you will have a copy of the email if they say that changing the pickups is within the extended warranty.

Happy Birthday and congratulations of the new guitar......

The Experts say never, ever buy any sort of extended warranty. It's the one true profit maker for anyone who sells it. The reason it is usually pushed hard is that the sales people get a big chunk of any warranty sale as commission, due to the fact that extended warranties are almost always pure profit for the company, whether it be Guitar Center, Best Buy or Wal-Mart.

And from what trueblue posted - yep, change the pickups, there goes your warranty.
