Hello. I live in the UK and recently had my Strat stolen. I claimed on my house content insurance. They called me to ask for a custom declaration. I do not have such a document as I bought the guitar from someone else (not a shop) and I don't even have the original receipt.

What can I do?
What shall I tell them?

Thanks

Suck it up. You're probably screwed.

You might contact a local barrister -- he *might* have a solution.

Yes, and a friend in a shop who gives you a receipt. Do you have other guitars? They'll never find the difference.

Cheers

For insurance purposes it is always good to have photos of the guitar that clearly show its serial no. and a bill of sale from the seller to you. Otherwise you might get the seller to provide an affidavit stating he sold the guitar to you.

What a shame, sorry for your grief. Bunch of thieves, that goes for insurance too.
