I just got a message from Gear-Vault that famous and innovative guitar maker Travis Bean passed away in his home of cancer on July 10th.Travis was one of the frist makers to incorporate aluminum into building of guitars especially in the necks. If my memory serves me correctly the necks were aluminum but had a thin veneer of wood skinned over them to give a more natural feel.RIP Travis and have a great time jamming with all the friends that you have on the other side of life.

I still have a poster rolled up in a tube that Travis Bean himself rolled up and handed me after I toured his factory. I bought a Travis Bean Artist with a two-digit serial number. Great guitar.

None of them had a wood veneer over the aluminum necks. Kramer made some with wood inserts.

I think Travis Bean had some current production going on in Germany.

RIP.

One of the Nirvana kids has a Travis Bean. They're okay. I have an aluminum Kramer.

+1 Never had wood veneer on the neck. The necks could get cold as ice. Nice guitars though. I only tried one once and the chill of the neck killed it for me. Great guitar otherwise. From what I heard Travis was sick for quite some time.
RIP Travis

Re the Travis Bean necks-I guess my memory didn't serve me correctly after all,I knew it was either the Beans or Kramers that had the veneer on the neck.

It's all good. I thought the S-1 switch required a battery until I posted here. :)
