Well, I was searching around, and it seems there is no where where good relatively new bands are listed. So I guessed I would bring this inquiry to the Lounge. What are some good new (New as in formed within 2000 and gained notoriety within the last five years and are still together) rock bands, like bands that rock, across all subgenre. So List a few and pass on the good tunes:

Bishop Allen; indie rock; Key Track: Middle Management, Things Are What You Make Of 'Em
The Raconteurs; rock/garage rock; Key Track: Solute Your Solution, Steady As She Goes
Cage the Elephant; rock/garage; Key Track: Ain't No Rest For the Wicked, Shake Me Down

children collide
bixby canyon
the red coats
tiger beams
diamanta

the list goes on. you just gotta know where to look. underground alternative rock is stronger than ever cause you can just record, upload to some sight and there. there are a bunch of local bands in australia that i really like.

Oh, and Cheeseburger is pretty damn good

edit: And Dinosaur Jr's reunion albums have both been amazing. Two of the best in their discog IMO. Not really a new band, but still.....

Bon Jovi are still going strong, as are Van Halen(new album out soon), but these two are obviously not new...

Hmmmm.... How come nobody has mentioned Los Lonely Boys? :?:

They are pretty good with their hybrid Mexican, Tejano (Tex/Mex), blues rock, flavored rock 'n roll. The only time they lose me is when the lyrics switch to spanish on occasion. I sit there thinking, "Wait... What? Huh? Yo, high school spanish class back in 1976 was a long time ago !!!" 8)

Even though they're not new to Canada, these bands aren't known internationally and are excellent .Hey Rosetta(they are inspired somewhat by ELO as they use cellos and violins but in a different more comtemporary style),Amos the Transparent,The High Dials,Jane Vain and the Dark Matter,The Dears,Kujo. The High Dials have an offshoot project that I've heard that's really great,I wrote down the name but can'r find it anywhere.
Here are some other great bands but I don't know where they're from.Jet,Paper Moon,The Sails,Crystal Castles,Mazzy Star,Whiskey Town,The Jimmy Bowskill Band,Brown Recluse,The Jayhawks.

Black Stone Cherry is one of the few good new bands out these days. And one of my favorite bands overall. I don't really listen to a whole lot of newer music, so that's the only suggestion I could think of. I'm sure there's some other good ones out there.

Skillet's been around for quite a while (10 years at least). I guess that's still new in the blues/rock world.
