I am one of the few Canadians who couldn't give a toss for hockey.I absolutely hate anything to do with ice or winter-born in the wrong hemisphere I guess.

I don't think I've watched a full period since the lock-out/strike a few years ago. I was so disillusioned with the league and the players association, both, that I vowed never to watch another game and I haven't. Due to sitting at other people's houses or maybe a beer at the pub I've been exposed to games but I don't watch. I found out who won the cup because I glanced at a headline at the 7-Eleven the next day and you know what? It's like smoking dope. After I quit I didn't miss it. I don't miss hockey.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

I like Canada. I've been there many times. Great people, great beer. 8)

Places I've been
Montreal
Ottawa
Fort Erie (many many times) **
Hamilton
Toronto

** I used to be stationed in Buffalo, New York back during my US Coast Guard days in the early 80's. We'd always take a weekend trips across the border to Fort Erie, Ontario, and get trashed in the bars and strip clubs next to the King Edward Hotel. Hey, all I know is that I was there. Things are still fuzzy all these years later, but, all I know is that I was there and took part in it. Some of the stories the guys told me afterwards, made me say, "I did what?!?"

My wife and I are off to Montreal next week. Never been there!

Anything worthy of seeing?

When we went there several years ago we took a bus tour that took us to many points of interest in Montreal. There is a huge Cathedral(Notre Dame?) there that is a must see even for the non religious as it is an example of spectacular architecture. The old Expo '67 site is still a great site with many interesting things there as well as a beautiful animal exhibition that is too elaborate to call a zoo. There is a Hard Rock Cafe there too just off Ste. Catherine St. on College St. I believe,it's very big and had some great stuff there,I got my pic taken holding a Strat that Eric Clapton used on a world tour in 1993.
There are some fabulous restaurants on Rue Ste. Catherine up around where the Old Montreal Forum is and there was one Schetzwan restaurant across the street and a little east of it that had absolutely the best Schetzwan food I ever tasted.Anyway that's about all I can remember.I would imagine that Claude would know a lot more about Montreal.

If you can't have fun in Montreal, well you just plain can't have fun!!

Schwartz's Deli for a smoked meat sandwich is an absolute must.

I'm surprized that no Montrealer responded yet. I live 160 miles from Montreal and the last time I went there was about ten years ago. Anyway, I know that in July there is the Just for laughs festival with a lot of shows with comedians from all over the world. There is also the Circus festival again with a lot of shows. The Old Port is worth spending some time walking around. Sadly the Jazz festival is over since a few days now. It mostly depends on what your interests are and if you don't have someone to guide you around, I'd suggest you google yourself a "things to do in Montreal" for next week, you should be able to come up with interesting stuff. Good luck.
