I'd like to know why there was a desicion to re-issue in the MIM line the Hot Rod Roadhouse & Lonestar strats, where there are other lines from the past that are blatantly more popular in the used market.

Plus, Fotoflame, MIJ 90's Tele custom.. also Japan seem to be more adventurous with their design & offerings than USA or Mexico.

who would pass up on this baby? you never see things like this from Mexico or non CS USA!! >>

YES. Fender Japan is sooo awesome. I have has serious GAS for that exact tele for some time now. May have to get gastric bypass surgery to cure it. But the handy yen to dollar coverter puts this baby in the $2000+ range. :( That's why I am getting the Cabronita Special!

Fender should REISSUE a buddy holly stratocaster!

Fender should buy gibson and make a les paul body and strat neck guitar with the name Fender on it

fender should give guitars to people that are poor for free at music stores like Musos Corner in Newcastle australia

Fender should make me CEO.

Fender should make wooden TV's
Fender should make chocolate shaped like their guitars and amps
Fender should buy all musical instrument companys and name the guitars Fender and make them spec'd to their's
Fender should make guitars for kids that love Fender's

Indeed. Every other electric guitar in the world that I've ever touched, including USA made strats, feels and plays like an acoustic compared to my Fender Japan 65 Mustang. That thing is beyond solid and plays like a dream. Yes, there is the 24" scale, but even if it were bigger, my theory is that it would still be amazingly playable.

Then every other electric guitar, including USA made Strats, that you've ever played needed to be set up properly.

The 24" (short) scale has it's advantages, but I've played dozens of different guitars--all scale lengths and brands--that weren't stiff or hard to play (which I assume that's what you mean by "plays like an acoustic") in any way.

...unless you were speaking in hyperbole. If that is the case, I quote Miss Emily Litella, "Never mind!"

Fender is the "Harley Davidson" of guitar companies. Like Harley, Fender is an American icon that can get by for a while on name alone but that won't last forever. HD had to step up and improve their product quality because they were on the brink. Now they just keep improving because it's so good for business they seem addicted to it and their products are better than ever.

Matt's list of Fender "should dos" might sound like a Fender bashing session but it is spoken with a deep love. A tough love if you will.

- Fire all your amplifier QA/QC and design people and get some people who want to work for a living instead of spending all day drinking coffee and letting crap get through to the consumer. This is important. Fender built it's reputation on it's amplifiers but now that rep is changing.

- Install a half power switch on the VibroKing. Scrap the Mods on the VibroVerb and make it the way Leo intended. Scrap the "Custom" version of the Vibrolux and make a real Re-issue.

- Get completely out of your long association with Emminence and start using real speakers.

- Lace Sensor, Vintage Noiseless, Hot Noiseless, Samarium Cobalt, N3 ... you guys have been trying for a couple of decades now and I don't think you're ever going to get there. You've had collaborations with Don Lace, Seymore Duncan and others. Try one with Dimarzio and get some "Area" in your bloodstream.

Try to lose some of your Strat and Tele models. You absolutely have more than enough. Try to offer more models of the other instruments, Jazzmasters and the like.

2 cents

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

I think fender should do what the car companies do. For example ford makes the mustang and the mustang is available in several packages, each has more features as they get more expensive. So why not just do that with guitars. Have the strat but have it available in lets say 5 versions. The base model would be the cheapest and the more expensive ones would have better pickups, or different colors. And of course don't just stay limited to strats and teles but do the same thing for the jaguar the jazzmaster and mustang.

They already do that--the guitars range from Squier to Custom Shop.

I don't know why everybody is so up in arms about needing "only 5 Strats" or Teles or whatever...anything that doesn't sell goes away, so there is already a mechanism in place for selecting what gets made...it's called sales figures!

The fact that there are some guitars that I don't like doesn't offend me, I just hope those particular models don't sell well so another Strat or Tele or whatever that I do like will be produced.

For example, I hated the old HM Strats...but they were very popular for a brief period of time. When they quit selling, production stopped. This made me happy, but if someone who thought those were cool, they had to seek out a used one (which might have made them unhappy).
