Exactly the same thoughts here. That first pint went down in two halves. Then I thought "hang on mate, you're in great company here. No sense in getting sloshed. Just enjoy the day".
So I decided enough was enough for me. Plenty of time for that carry on at another time.

Cheers guys, it was a cool day indeed! I lost count on how many times the Ninja opened and took out his new acquisition to fondle it for a few minutes, then put it back in the case, and do the whole thing again just minutes later. It was a joy to behold!
Next time we'll do the whole thing with a Fender guitar. Just so that things don't get boring! :D

See you all agin soon!

Wouldn't that be a great day out, off to Penny Lane? Rhumba?

Hmmmmm plot plot, scheme, scheme.
Acoustic forum jam in Strawberry Field?
Impromptu bootleg style recording at the Cavern?

Can I be Ringo?

Ditto! Looking forward to seeing the Florida crew again at year's end. A shorter visit for me then, though. Hope we can find mutual time. Marilyn says that if we eventually found our way to Paris perhaps we could coax ya'll to cross and link up with Alain. It's a plan to think on for the future.

By my count there's at least five of you who might link up without waiting for one of us to cross the pond. Is there much of a distance handicap?
I should talk...I've been 'planning' to catch up with Martian for nearly a year now. Life gets in the way. Also have to connect with Kong again soon, That's my next email after I close here.
Still gassed about your gathering. Awesome.

Cool stuff guys! Pretty guitar and definitely looks like fun company. Looking forward to hanging with the good Doc in NYC soon.

One of these days I've got to make a jaunt across the pond! Looks like too much fun to miss.

Admit it, Ceri, you just took your favourite Maj7 chord voicing and made the same shape sloping a different direction... heh.

Nice to see documentary evidence of a get-together — it's a lovely idea.

Hee-hee! "I'll name that chord in..."

That's essentially my all purpose maj13 shape. Based on this:

Then we can run the pinky up and down the E string for added jazzy flavours:

ImageImageImage

However, my hands are just too damn small to simultaneously thumb the root and fret that top third (or tenth) with the pinky. So I drop the thumbed root - though if we're playing in A at the fifth fret then we can use the open A string as the root instead.

And if memory serves I believe it is the middle of those three chords we see in the photo at the top of this thread. (Though now I look again I appear to be barring the root, so...)

How did I remember that? Because I only know two chords, and this one is the more photogenic... :| What the heck would you call that chord?

Nice to see you around, by the way, Mondo. Too rare.

Cheers - C

And Mondo thought he was going to be able to just slip in and out of there with
a quickie.

Haha - but Mondo is one of the guys round here who has seriously interesting things to say about technique and such. Gotta try and keep him involved... :D

Don't want to make a fuss about it, but when (rarely) people here talk about the actual music we make on guitars it always gets more worthwhile. For instance, Doc, you on Clapton's vibrato is a moment in Forum history I always remember with pleasure.

Also, that maj13 thing was something Mondo and I were talking about once before. I believe I refered to the stuff on the E string as the "twiddly bits" that time around. So now we have the chord diagrams and can see how simplistic it really is. If Mondo looks in again I'm betting he has something more useful to share.

Cheers - C
