if you are not going to run the drive channel on the amp then run ur axe into the gt 10 and then into the front of the amp, if you want to use the drive channel then the easiest is just to use the standard loop with guitar into amp, pre amp out into the imput of the gt and then the out put of the gt to the power amp in of the amp...

i have the same amp and have noticed considerable loss of volume and tone when using the efx loop, (i dont have a multi efx, i have a pedal board...) even when i run a minimised board i still get some negative effects... if i were you just plug the gt strait in the front so u dont lose any of that deluxe tone!

I have an old Digitech RP7 processor, and tried running it through the effects loop on my Fender Frontman 65 solid state amp.

Here's some things I noticed:
- Chorus, Delay, Flanger, Phaser, modes/sound banks all sound beautiful in the loop.
- OD, Distortion, Compressor, etc... all sound horrible and so brittle and harsh it's like an ice pick!

In a nutshell: The old Digitech RP7 works good played through the front of the amp as it should. But then, I don't use it much with my amp anymore, aside from just using it as a giant stompbox for chorus or something. Some amps will work great with multi-effects pedals, some won't. Just as some multi-effects units will sound awesome through this amp, but not that one.

I own 2 high end amps with effects loops-A Vox AD120VTH and a Marshall JCM 800 4210-and never use the effects loops. After trying the effects loops on my own amps and others I have found that universally they rob a lot of your tone and volume. After years and years I've found effects loops to be tone robbers and for that reason always go into the front of the amp.

Effects loops, in my own limited experience, are utterly useless and only serve to over-complicate something stupidly simple and kill your tone.

Thanx again guys i agree with you's as i said ive always ran my effects into the main input and i think its still the way to go.ive always use valve amps and this is what im using at the moment the blues deluxe reissue which i do like, ive had 2 hotrod deville's and hotrod deluxe and a 59bassman reissue and fender amps are my favourite as ive had to sell the other's to pay the bills.im still happy with the bdr anyway thanx a bunch for the replies i play mainly gretsch gtars like setzer signature series and chet and a dsw nashville's i also use a mex tele for my brent picking and have recently bought a 60s classic vibe strat and its the only strat i like very pleased with it atleast i wont have to waste my bobs on a usa strat and thanx again from dve6120 dublin eire

How rude of me,I forgot to welcome you to the forum-so welcome to the forum from NL,Canada where we have the largest per capita population of people of Irish descent in the world outside of Ireland.I live in a part of the province called The Irish Loop which is about 200 km long and 98% of the people can trace their lineage back to Ireland.

Read the specs on your amp. The return on the effects loops is expecting a certain signal level. You have to match that up. If they all sucked tone and volume, why would anyone put one on their amps?

Most effects loop,if not all,go between the preamp and main power amp so consequently it can have a drastic impact on the overall tone in many cases such as I have found on my own amps and many others.

And thank you for my welcome to the forum a friend of mine left our wee land 2months ago to live in vancouver, i hope he is doing well and enjoying himself . i have tried the loop way and in front of the amp and i feel the loop is not for me cause you do loose the tone of the natural amp sound and the sound from the amp is far better than the preamp simulations on the gt 10 although they may have a purpose in the recording side. But that can also be simply down to taste cheers guys

pre out and power in are designed for exactly that.
it can be used for an effects loop, but was mentioned earlier, signal strength will make a big difference.
the vox is an effects loop, so it was designed for that.

i traded a vox for a hot rod deluxe and tried using the pre in and power out as an effects loop because i liked how it worked on the vox... then my deluxe would suddenly drop out on me.
i asked my friendly neighborhood fender forum about the trouble and was given the same advice you're getting right now... skip the loop - just plug-er-in-n-let-er-rip.

and welcome to the forum!

Nice car man :D ive always used my effects in the main input and have never bothered with loop end of things until recently i was told i should go that way as in thats the way the pro's do it,as a guitar player i think we are striving for that pro sound or the best sound we can get so i wanted to know more and see what other musicians had to say. And now that ive tried it out and for me its turn of the preamp simulation's on your efx unit and as you said strait in and let her rip! Its now time for me to go to bed or as we say here in ireland hit the hay talk soon

thanks, my two babies, the strat and the stang.
had the pleasure of visiting your country some years back... i'd go back in a heartbeat if i had the opportunity.
we stayed with friends in limerick, did some of the typical tourist stuff, bunratty, dirty nelly's, etc.
my best memories are the steaks, the "off the beaten path" pubs, and powers whiskey. can't buy the stuff here in the states, so mail me a bottle when you get the chance!
