I was reading an article on the Beatles guitars on another musicians forum-not Andy Babiuk's excellent book but another one.Anyway while looking through I saw their beautiful Rics and that did it and renewed my GAS for a 360/12 or 325/63 or any of the other Rics that John and George had.The missus said no more household money going for guits unless I start gigging or giving lessons again. With my mitts shagged up that's unlikely in the near future so I guess I gotta grin and bear it,win the lottery or wait for a miracle cure.Anyway you can hardly blame the missus, she has been very reasonable by giving me 7 guitars in the past 7 Christmases as well as other gear such as amps etc. and it's hard dusting and vacuuming around 11 amps and 30 stringed instruments not to mention effects, keyboards and hundreds of volumes of music books and mags. This Gas for a Ric won't go away soon though-I hope they pick my numbers tonight-look out then,I'd decimate the stock of every Beatle type Ric at Pick of The Rics in New Jersey.

GS we feel your pain brother. When I hit 10 guitars Mrs T2 said you got to sell one to buy another one. Right now I am at 9, so am gassing a bit myself. I was thinking about a Les Paul...but it might be a jazzmaster or maybe even a build it yourself type project.

Maybe you will get lucky this Christmas and make it 8 in row...treat her good between now and then and hope for the best!

Vacuuming around...any wall-hanging option?

Re the Ric, personal feeling is give in and get your dream. 'Have found not golfing, gambling, carousing, living high...and driving an old car, give one some "licence to acquire."

Best of fortune.

If you're intent on acquiring a Ricky, don't buy one of the new ones. My playing partner (whose name is Ricky, by the way) owns two of the newer models and they don't do a thing for me. They look cheap and I don't care for the way they play at all. Truth be told, Ricky hardly ever plays his Rickies, mostly plays a Strat or Tele when we're out on the road... and he doesn't care about their value, he just plays them. He seldom brings a Ricky to practice, either. As often as he swaps guitars, I'm surprised he's even hung onto them.

Amongst my tele's and a couple of strats I have a epiphone inspired by john lennon casino and a 360/6 mapleglo riki......you can see the beatles connection....after all i am from Liverpool!!!!!!!!

The riki is the jewel in my collection its great!! it feels great!!! and it plays great!! the dealer where i get most of my guitars is a uk riki dealer and usually carries a few. A 12 string is my holy grail and although the george harrison 12 in fireglo is beautiful i have a leaning to a midnight blue model.

your pain is genuine.........GAS is a very real thing mine is going to be treated with a highway 1 tele and classic player 50 strat.

Hi UKraider,I'm a diehard Beatles fan too and have as my life's project before I take the long dirt nap-to get at least one of every model that they used on stage and recording. I already have a '65 John Lennon Casino,a John Lennon EJ-160-E,a Gretsch Tennessean, a '65 Strat which will be refinished Sonic Blue,a Tele-that'll do untill I get a rosewood model,an SG and a Les Paul named Lucy of course.Currently I'm using a '65 Vox Phantom XII for my 12 string work and plan on getting a Jangle Box and that should do me until I can get a 360/12. As you can see I still have to pick up a good few models to complete my quest.

Seriously, this morning I was looking at the empty spot next to our Beatles painting and thinking: "I could get the Ric I want, and hang it next to the Beatles and tell my wife it was for interior decorating!"
Then I thought: "There might be room for a bass too!"
I'm actually thinking I might be able to get away with it. Can't hurt to try.

So, the Beatles poster and frame were about $25.00

The Rick, Epi, J-160 and Hofner bass to "go" with the poster would be about $5,000.00

Makes perfect sense. Stimulating decour is important to producing the appropriate level of ambiance for a music area or room.

Rickenbacker guitars are just beautiful. Very distinctive sound, also!

I wish you the best of luck on your journey for more Beatles gear, guitslinger!

I figure that if I quit cigarettes that I'd save enough to buy a nice used 360/12 or 325V63 in about 6 months-now if I could only give the dirty things up.Anyway a nice Rick should be motivation enough to give Champix another try.
