Lately they've been playing one song in particular on Little Steven's Underground Garage on Sirius and I was thinking it was a current indie rock/garage band. The song is called I Wonder and is by The Gants.I thought that the song sounded familiar the first time they played it and now I know why-the song is on my 4 CD compilation of 60s psychedelic hits called Nuggets:Original Artyfacts of The First Psychedelic Era '65-'68.It's a real cool song and the lead vocalist has a great very pleasant voice that sounds very Brit-like although I believe that they are from the L.A. area.I hadn't heard of them before but now I'm going to try and find some recordings by them-they are that good.Anyone else heard of them?

Thanks for the tip off! This song sounds great and I will be digging into more of their stuff for sure!

As for them sounding current I will have to respectfully disagree with you on this one. I guess some elements of the song do sound slightly current but for me the whole sound and vibe screams the 60's at me!

But everyones interpretation is different!

Now excuse me whilst I go track down their back catalogue :)

What I meant about them sounding current is that they have the same type sound that current garage bands are striving to get which is that retro 60s vibe.Even our local band Kujo has gotten into the 60s garage band sound.I thank my lucky stars that garage bands are still making music as it was always one of my favourite genres. Thanks for posting the link Mike-really cool. Now if I could only figure out how to get it all on a CD- time to call my computer wiz Blinkers for a hand. Then again I could order from my old reliable CD Universe.I have "I Wonder"on repeat on my boom box for the past hour. Once I find a song I really like I stick it on repeat for dozens of plays.

I just dodged over to CD Universe and ordered the I Wonder compilation CD with 30 songs on it and it only costs $22 delivered. They also have a CD called Introducing the Gants that has a lot of Beatles covers as well as The Stones and they also do a version of Hey Joe,maybe next week because I already have about 4 CDs on order.

I've always been a Gants fan - bought their Sundazed compilation: Road Runner - The Best Of The Gants, back in 2000. Here's a photo - notice their gear!

And here's a live action shot - some good looking Fender (and other) amps behind them, though only one is actually playing a Fender in this shot.

I've always liked The Gants and I've always loved 60s music - those were my formative years!
