i he any good?
i'm on his e-mail list and he's got a good offer... but i don't know if it'll be worth it.
i've seen some of his you-tube videos and i'm not really all that impressed, although he's a much better guitar player than i am.
i'm just a guy who'd been playing rhythm guitar since noah stepped off the ark. branched out into lead a couple of years ago, but i'm stuck in the pentatonic rut.

anyway, opinions please?
thanks,
frank

Frank, there's lots of free lessons on YouTube. Some are really well done.

You'd probably do better going to some of the free online lessons or even buying Guitar World every month for the instructional DVDs from Andy Aledort et al.

I cant respect him just because of his ad campaigns. He sometimes posts on other youtube instructor videos (like steviesnacks, one of the best texas blues lesson series around) with popups that say "this video sucks, he's leaving out the THREE SECRETS!" as if guitar can really be broken down into 3 simple things. I wouldn't buy his whole series for a dollar.

i'll check some of those out.
i was considering the dvd's just because he's a better guitar player than i am... so, could i learn something? probably yes. the "incredible deal" is now over anyway, but thanks everybody for the input.
3 secrets?... yeah, practice, practice, practice 8)

just back from steviesnacks... that's good stuff. thank you very much!
ftk

I've read reviews of his course on various sites and they all say that they are all right for beginners and even some intermediate players but would be a waste of time for anyone who's either bit advanced. If,as another post stated,he resorts to going onto other instructional videos on Youtube with pop ups deeming them garbage he should be avoided like a plague as that's a sure sign of someone with no scruples and they're usually rip-off artists anyway.

Pay Attention. This is an ad that Claude Johnson is running for his site, an ad that targets other guitar lesson videos. This is how he markets his stuff. I have made it a policy not to point out sleazy advertising, but this takes the cake. You stay classy Claude Johnson.

You could check out Walliman and DolphinStreet. Both have free lessons, and the topics they cover might just help you out !
