Try a Gibson CS-336, a cross between an LP and a 335. Semi-hollow great sustain. Look at the photo in my sig, between the LP and blue 335

I had heard a lot of great things about Ibanez's semi-hollow guitars. I played one at Guitar Center the other day and it was impressive. This is the one I tried out.

Some of the Ibanez Artcore models and the George Benson models are great jazz guitars so are the Epiphone Broadway,Joe Pass Emperor,Byrdland and ES-175.All of these are low-mid priced guitars with a great jazz/blues sound and are of great build quality.BTW the Epi Casinos and Rivieras are also great for blues/jazz.

Thanks GS that's a heap of stuff to try....Awesome.... 8)

If you can, get to a major guitar show and sniff the carved top acoustics in great detail. There are some boutique luthiers whose prices are remarkably low.

In this opinion, an unamplified carved top (and back) guitar is one of the most amazing experiences you can have.

I am leaning toward one of these Hofner Verythin's.....They look like the goods for the money....Maybe even the classic....Masterbuilt in germany and still under 2 grand.....Cheap....or the produced in asia and assembled in Germany CT series....For 5 hunge....Cheap guitars....Gettin rave reviews....I'll never get to play one here in Coastal Australia....It'll just be order it and see..... Anyone played or own one of these Verthin's?

Framus and Hagstrom also make very nice holllow body and semi hollow guitars that are good for blues or jazz.

And the '62 Reissue Jazzmaster is a very respectable (SURPRISE!) guitar as is a '62 Reissue Jaguar.

Amp settings, .011 or .012 strings (especially flatwound) take you there.
