But what's the Second Choice? I have a Les Paul Gold top with P,90's Lovely rock guitar but i think i want to go for a more dark mellow sounding opposite guitar, For Jazzy sort of chordie progressions with clean Jazzy soloing, Is it a 335,355, 389 Gibbo? Do i have to buy a Gibbo? What other suggestions do ya all have for a mellow Jazz clean blues sound?? 8)

You could install a 25db mid boost in your Strat or Tele. It would darken up your sound. I have a lace sensor equipped Strat and their "Blue" Lace Sensor Strat style pickup can sound mellow/jazzy/bluesy. They live in the neck pickup position.

Try a Gibson CS-336, a cross between an LP and a 335. Semi-hollow great sustain. Look at the photo in my sig, between the LP and blue 335

I had heard a lot of great things about Ibanez's semi-hollow guitars. I played one at Guitar Center the other day and it was impressive. This is the one I tried out.

For the darker jazz tone, I'd recommend an archtop. Built for jazz. I know that most archtops are custom built, but Gibson has Wes Montgomery artist special for you to try out. Amazing guitar.

Or if you want something that's still capable enough to play rock, try a gretsch, or, if you have the money, a Languedoc.

and +100 on the Pikasso pic.

Some of the Ibanez Artcore models and the George Benson models are great jazz guitars so are the Epiphone Broadway,Joe Pass Emperor,Byrdland and ES-175.All of these are low-mid priced guitars with a great jazz/blues sound and are of great build quality.BTW the Epi Casinos and Rivieras are also great for blues/jazz.

My actual secondary is a Guild M-66, but that's in essence a Fender now.

Maybe try one of those Godin 5th Avenues. I dunno, I'd like one.
