Well, quite a bit. They are two completely different effects that sound nothing alike.

Hear that beautiful cavernous echo? That's reverb.

Listen to this, it's a good beginning guide to compressors.

thanks Nikininja,
Reverb sounds like it is being played inside a cathedral.
Compression sounds tight; hence compression.
Actually it sounds like a flamenco gone electric.

Very nice comparison, That is the stuff that speeds up a young players progress and helps keep them focused. Where were you when I was a kid ? :) :)

...and if you mix them together you get compreverb.

Unless you put the reverb first, and then you get repression...and nobody wants that.

Yeah you can use a compressor as part of a good preamp signal instead of distortion or overdrive for recording direct into a desk. Ideal for driving a reverb and getting a good flat signal for the reverb to deal with.
I'd still like a bit more eq control though. So maybe I'd go COMP>EQ>REV/DLY>DESK if I were after a purely clean sound and didn't (I dont) have a amp that could do that.

I have the mustang amp so I do all that in fuse.I'm actualy micing the amp into a mackie mixer the mackie goes to a behringer mixer for more controll then into my computer interface into ableton. Some times I use the reverb on the behringer if I'm useing my marshall.

When you run a compressor inline with your verb tank you can dial up some copious amounts of verb. I tried it once when I was on a short lived surf kick. Works well.

I don't know. I'm in my second childhood, so I'm not accountable for anything I say or do.

Both! :P
