I have been playing an acoustic Martin for about a year and decided to get an electric guitar. I bought a 1993 Mexican Strat off my neighbor and I love it. It has a maple fretboard and it is set up nice for me. It plays so smooth. I had to have an amp to go with it so I went and picked up a super champ xd. I love them both and will stick with Fender when ever I upgrade. Maybe in a year or two Ill get an American Strat.

Welcome! Sounds like a good start to playing electric guitar. I personally am a big fan of the Super Champ XD; It's a great little amp for the price. 8)

I started playing when I was 21yrs back in '71 with this guitar that was given to me

but after seeing Jimi play in the movie Woodstock, I knew that I wanted a Strat, and on my birthday in Oct '72, I brought this guitar brand new for $350 w/case

That was a Sear's Silvertone guitar/amp combo http://www.retrothing.com/2007/12/guitar-week-sea.html. In one of the homes I owned, the basement flooded and the guitar/amp was ruined.
