All of those ( others) Kinman, Lawrence, DiMarzio strat pickups that are suppose to be next to no hum...are they all double coil or mini humbuckers?
Is there such a thing as true next to noiseless single coils?
Are some of these really more clear than the N3's?

The DiMarzio "Virtual Vintage" and "Area" series pickups are all stacked double coils. I couldn't say how a comparison between them and the N3's would fare, but between the DM's and the SCN's, the DM's definitely sound punchier and "strattier". And unlike many dual-coil humbuckers, they work fine with 250K volume and tone pots.

...while on this subject...I am a new strat owner and I find that the output on the pickups (of the new 50's series strat) are more quiet than that of my Telecaster with Seymour Duncan soapbars or even the G&L ASAT with G&L single coils. Why is this?

I have a dimarzio tone tone in the bridge of my '57 hot rot strat. as far as I know its a stacked humbucker. The pickup is very quite and gives off some mean tones. My favorite part is that the guitar still has that " classic strat" look.

Skullz thats a regular humbucker condensed to fit in a singlecoil housing, not a stacked humbucker. Take a look inside, one coil next to the other.

Stacked humbuckers like the Vintage Noiseless, Dimarzio Area, SCN's and Hot Noiseless have one coil atop another. The only true nearly noiseless singlecoil is the Lace Sensor design.
