ok folks, got mine last night. I'm new to the forum, I'm not a working musician like most of you here but I can say this blacktop delivers everything fender promises. The dual P pu's give you a very strong precission sound (maybe a little like active but no extra noise) and it plays like a j bass should. I was pleasantly surprised just how easy the action is right out of the box. (at leaston mine). I can also say there's plenty of high end out of the 4 P pu's. Looking at the overall construction and have no complaints with the quality of it being an MIM. I'm not a total newbie, and I have seen worse. You get exactly what you expect from this bass, and for those of us without a grand to drop on the latest and greatest American made model I am extremely happy with it. Easily worth the 499.00 from GC. I bought the chrome pearl colored body' nice to look at too.

Congrats on your new bass. I'd like to get my hands on one but, they aren't available in my area. Working musicians? That's pretty funny, most of us are hobbyists enjoying our gear in the basement with a few of us sweating in garages, or having a bunch of old friends over to create.

On the other end, you've got a bunch of teenagers starting out. No matter, the Forums are a good place to share.

Glad to hear you're happy with your new bass.

I tried out a couple of the new Squiers. Like to see the new Blacktops too. Not much more than the Squier.
