Yeah, that's what I like about them, if only I could get my hands on them before I buy, but then music stores don't always have what you want either.... It's the ying yang of the music business...

MAPLE NECKS! NEVER MAPLE NECKS!WHY ??
Why is it so hard to get basses offered with BOTH fretboard types;ROSEWOOD & MAPLE ?it seems like they prefer to not offer this neck type, its very frustrating because I prefer maple as a fretboard opposed to r/wood.
It took how many years to be able to get a MIM standard with a maple neck,ALMOST 20,yes almost 20 years Dang it! one would think a one piece neck would be more apt to be offered than one that requiers gluing on a piece of r/wood and all the prep work before and the finishing work after, more labor intensive NO ?
There is just something that for me sets off the look of a bass than a maple neck, add some block in-lays and its one for the books,it makes all the different finishes just stand-out and shine,I am not saying offer it stock every single time but at least allow it to be available in a special order or ....?
The two american Fender basses I own both have rosewood boards and if it was'nt for their extreme quality(easily best American standards I ever owned) I would have either never purchased them or replaced at least one of their necks(p-bass would be changed up) with maple.
There are so many great Fender basses that would be benefit from a maple neck that are'nt offered with one;Mike Dirnt bass maybe,Mustang bass(yes, maple was a offered fretboard)and a few others, whats the big deal ?
I have heard by dealers that its held back on some models to allow other models no competition for whatever reason,WHO KNOWS ?

Oh, so close and yet...

Why didn't Fender do a Jazz with a Precision PU in the neck position and a Double HB in the bridge position (like the old American Deluxe Precisions). This is such a killer combo. Can't figure out why the Blacktop Jazz has Precision PUs and the Precision has 2 double Jazz pickups (essentially). Talk about identity crisis.

Til GC gets one in stock, we may never know. Maybe they tried them out and found it sounds good.

The blacktop jazz is essentially a Fender Precision Elite, anyone remember those??, except in a jazz body, which by the way is totally B.A.

Sweet.

In b4 that one guy comes in complaining about no blacktop mustangs.

Well, no Blacktop Mustang basses as well...

Seriously the J-Bass one looks good.

One of these days I just may buy a second bass.

I'm starting to think that the Blacktop Basses are Brad's idea of a sick joke. I keep looking and calling around, nobody has them and no idea when they'll get them.

That could be my house! The cat loves to ambush a dog 5 or 6 times his size! She just looks sorrowful as if to say "What did I do?"
