I knew I must have been destined to be a blues player when I was born on Lightnin' Hopkins' birthday-Mar.15.I've already met and had a great chat with one of my biggest blues heroes and one of the greatest of blues giants both figuratively and literally-Willie Dixon. He played at a concert at our student center back in the mid 70s and I just sauntered past security and into the dressing room when he took an intermission. When I shook his hand it was like putting mine into a catchers mitt-he had enormous hands.I spent about 15 or 20 minutes chatting with him.I asked him what he thought about Jimi's cover of his Hootchie Cootchie Man and he said he really liked the job Jimi did of it. I asked him if he had met Jimi and he said that he did. When I asked him what Jimi was like he said:"He was one strange cat,but he was cool."There aren't many of my old blues heroes left to meet so B.B. King would have to be my pick now.

He was a big man in many ways, wasn't he?
BTW if I had a choice to pick anyone either alive or dead it would be Jimi Hendrix as he has been one of my biggest influences and really has affected my playing style,so much so that even when playing songs not even associated with Jimi, people will say that the Jimi influence is very obvious.

Albert King when he was playing at the Fillmore West with Jimi and Janis. A three for one special.

For me it would be Magic Sam! I’ve been fortune enough, no make that blessed, to meet and/or play with most of my blues heroes.

But, I have talked to many blues musicians that knew Magic Sam that I feel like I knew him.

Magic Slim & I have talked for hours about Sam. It was Magic Sam that gave Magic Slim his ‘stage-name’. I know Eddie Shaw (Howling’ Wolf) and we’ve talked about Magic Sam (that’s Eddie & Sam wearing matching suits in the inter album cover of

Definitely Stevie Ray Vaughan! I'd just like to talk about music/guitar stuff. And of course getting to jam be real cool. :)

I never talked to Stevie, but I've talked with Jimmie Vaughan several times. I do have one of Stevie's pick, my story about it was posted by Fender http://www.fender.com/news/index.php?display_article=374.

I can't believe none of you guys mentioned the most incredible, most influencial, blues guitarist of them all...

B. B. King 8)

As much of an EC fan as I am, I would give my left nut to meet B.B. King (and Lucille). He influenced ....everybody!

See, every time you goof around on your Strat with a 12/8 blues tempo and you hit that certain vibrato note near the turnaround, that's B.B. King's vibrato. 8)

Also, "Lucille" has a tone that just sings... 8)

Would have to be Eric Clapton...I would ask him to do my laundry    But seriously I would ask him to jam...I figure what the heck, only going to probably meet him once anyway, so why not? If he says yes, cool, if no, then at least I had the stones to ask him!

You could ask him why he felt compelled to "vandalize" that guitar you got by scrawling his name on it.

I didn't mention him, because I sat with him quite a few times. We played the Kenlake (KY) Hot August Blues Fest, and one of his daughters, Shirley King http://www.fatfishblue.com/artists/shirley_king.htm, came on before us, and she smoked!

We had to 'pull out all the stops' to win over the crowd after she left the stage.
