Tbaz

Look at the Splinter Group version.

Nigel Watson doesn't do a bad job. But when Greenie gets on the thing, all that old gentleness comes back.

Matt, he was always noted for his voice as much as his playing. Noel Gallagher of all people said the same thing in the Man Of The World documentary. My dad told me the same when he got me listening to them in 82.

My personal fave.

Yep, I can agree with that Tbaz. Though I find some of his late 70's/Early 80's stuff less than great. But he was ill.

Here's a great one from after he left Fleetwood Mac, then went back to the US with them to help em out. Apparently it flawed the band, they couldn't believe they were going to have to compete against this.

It's amazing how he can reference BB King in his phrasing and tone, yet sound completely like himself at the same time. I love guitarists that can do that (sound like somebody else and themselves at the same time).

Such a tragic story, much like the horrible things that happened to Roky Erickson of the 13th Floor Elevators.

I'm glad to see that some of the finesse and ability is still there (looking at more recent videos). I wonder if the "fire" is less due to the "lost years" or because of the current meds...

SA

A reporter tracked him down and got him off medication. He was in a absolute wonderland at the time. Catatonic at breakfast, utterly gaga by evening. Repeat next day. From what I can fathom a lot of his problems came from over prescription. Something that was very popular here. Doctors were paid 'back-hander's' to get a companies meds popular. Doc's get paid to prescribe, chemists make money, Government pays. The only loser being the patient and the taxpayer.
A system very open to abuse.

Beautiful guitar phrases aside. I can't help but think if I only had that voice. I grew up with a guy who had a special voice. He went on to become a professional singer (Gospel) and still is today as far as I know. We were in a band together and it always pee'd me off because he sounded so much better than I did. Natural talent with training is amazing.

The only way I can discribe his guitar playing is haunting. LSD is a powerful drug and scrambled his brain for a long time.
