I'm not surprised you sold up... they're clearly fakes, they're the wrong way round... :wink:

I have a PRS McCarty that I use most of the time when I play out. That thing is built as solid as a tank and totaly reliable. Workmanship on it is outstanding,and as far as tone is conscerned it smokes my Les Paul. I like the simplicity of one volume, one tone control, like my Teles.

Hi all

My GAS has recently brought PRS guitars to my attention. Anyone have any expirience with these? I've heard they're fine pieces of craftsmanship. What styles of music are they good for? How do they play in your opinion? Any comparisons?

Thanks

this is a tough place to get unbiased opinions on other brands--like going to the Gibson forum and asking about Strats or the PRS forum and asking about Gibsons--go play a few and you'll see why people buy the-great sound-great playability and great quality :D :D

Seems to me there's been a pretty fair smattering of opinion pro and con, having owned two...'94 CE 24 bolt-on, and an '08 Hiland which were swapped out for new CS built Strats. From a concept point of view, the double cutaways ARE strat-borne ideas but they have a different feel when strapped on. There's no arguing the quality of the build for either the domestic or Korean models. They are really top drawer gear. {That new Soap Bar axe pictured appears to have been conceived off of the now defunct Hiland platform.}

Smith has his own ideas of what constitutes a playable guitar neck and has gone back to an earlier design. In all his years of production, he has yet to have answered my needs, my having a preference for V-necks. If I could get a PRS with a Clapton neck profile, that would be perfect. However, I don't know that I'd want to go the same coin to own a piece of 'guitar art' I might be afraid to gig with, when I could pay equally to have Todd Krause build the real thing for me in less conspicuous package. :wink:

PRS guitars are like a nice piece of art on the wall of someone else's house. It looks beautiful and fits with the vibe of their decor, but if I were to take it off their wall and put it on my wall, it wouldn't fit at all.

Gorgeous instruments, sound good in the hands of many people, but they just don't "fit" me.

For whatever reason(s), they never appealed in the least.
