Hi all

My GAS has recently brought PRS guitars to my attention. Anyone have any expirience with these? I've heard they're fine pieces of craftsmanship. What styles of music are they good for? How do they play in your opinion? Any comparisons?

Thanks

They're nice, but I couldn't see really playing one, as it I don't know how well they would handle being beaten up and tossed about, I $@!& my guitars up pretty good when playing.

Yeah... It would kill me to see one of them with a ding on it... Defacing the immaculate finishes on those guys probably would greatly devalue them too :(

Nice guitars but not for me. I don't like how they play and their sound just doesn't do it for me. However, that is just me, and my taste. I know that some guys like them and can make them really sing. I just couldn't bond with them.

I've just sold my last PRS. I've owned a brace of them- a Custom 22 and a Singlecut Trem Artist Pack.

The Cu22 was pretty good, not brilliant in my opinion. Amazing neck, beautiful build quality.

The Singlecut Trem was probably the best guitar I ever owned. Amazing pickups, amazing build quality, amazing feel. Also, incredible customer service. Five years after owning the guitar, it developed a finish problem where it started lifting- not in huge chunks, just in inconspicuous places. I emailed them, and within a fortnight of asking about the initial problem the guitar was back in the good ol' US of A being fully refinished... under warranty.

It was also absolutely beautiful! Still is!

I've never been able to pony up the kind of cash necessary for a PRS, but I have played a few and they are very nice IMO. I'd take a custom 22 over any Les Paul I've ever played.

This thread is turning into guitar porn. I can't wait to see the center fold.

PRS just doesn't have the history yet. That's the rub. I have a single cut and it's nicer than my Fenders in many respects. But, I'm in love with my Fenders and everything that goes with the brand. It's like comparing BMW and Lexus (both excellent). An old Lexus is an old unrecognizable Japanese car, if you own an old BMW, you still have a BMW. No offense to any Lexus owners.
