Hey all, i'd appreciate some opinions on effects pedal chain noise. Okay, There is a pretty decent looking pedal power supply that i've been looking at, by voodoo labs, the pedal power 2 plus. It is said to have every one of the 8 power outputs seperately shielded to prevent line noise. Ok, it looks like a good investment for a bunch of other reasons as well, including a heavy duty power cord, an ac out plug, a lot of options for powering pedals with varied input requirements, and it is nicely mountable on my powertrain pedalboard, with the nice clips that came with the board. However, what i'm wondering though, is will all of that nice clean sound be a waste, considering the ol' sixty cycle hum inherent in our beloved stock fender single coil pickups on American standard guitars anyway? And the pedal power 2 plus isn't cheap, at $169.99. I can get a one spot power adapter combo kit with a pretty decent 10' power cord several kinds of pedal input adapters, and a beefy looking daisy chain for 8 pedals for only $34.99, which will handle up to a 1700 mA power draw. I'm leaning toward the one spot since i believe that all the pristine signal will be overshadowed by the pickup hum anyway. What do you folks think? Maybe someone knows of a better product? Thanks a lot for any opinions here. :D

One Spot''s are great. I've had one for a while. Zero problems and It also powers my vintage effects too.

A lot will depend on what pedals you are powering. I have had a few pedals that really didn't get along with my one-spot from a noise perspective. Electro harmonix pedals mostly but there are a few others. I have a pretty long chain and eventually I found that I had two or three pedals that didn't get along with the one spot. What I had to do was use a separate power supply for those pedals and the one-spot for everthing else. So, where I wanted a single plug for all of my pedals I ended up with 4 plugs. Not bad but I eventually upgraded to a pedal power 2 and never looked back. It powers everything, quietly.

Voodoo labs also makes a pedal power ISO 5 with 5 inputs rather than 8 for a lower price. Depending on how many pedals you are running it might be a cheaper option.

FWIW, I play a jazzmaster so 60 cycle hum is an issue for me as well but I find it helps to not start off with any more noise than necessary.
