...That homosexual rights is an issue in 2011. In the US at least. Going through the DADT repeal in the military and states slowly allowing marriage, the bigots coming out of the woodwork against the issue seem like they should be from another time. I really thought we were past this kind of intolerance.

Just heard on a news broadcast today that New York State has approved marriage of same sex couples.Slowly but surely legislators are becoming less bigotted.

I would be careful not to assume all those with an alternative opinion to yours are motivated by bigotry.

Why don't you merely shoot all the bigots?

I accept that discrimination is bigotry and there is no excuse. I'm simply saying that not all people of the opposing view are motivated by these things.

It's still discrimination.

Yes, it is discrimination to refer to those who would want to protect the sanctity of marriage according to what it was intended to be since its conception as bigots.

Thus, another issue that politicians can use to pit us against each other.

Have you ever noticed that every issue in life is multiple choice? Our so called leaders decide the questions then provide us with the answers. So now we pick one. Then, let the name calling and emotions fly high. All while our leaders are living it up on our dollar sitting back and watching us fight amongst ourselves for their entertainment.

How about a third option, Homosexual people can be "joined" and under the eyes of the law receive equal treatment as those that are married. Two different things with equal legal rights.

I'm confused. How is it that someone that disagrees with you on this is a bigot or is discriminating against anyone. Aren't both sides simply stating their views. If both sides can do that, how is it either of those horrid words?

Also, thus far I only see one person trying to discriminate against opposing views. . .

I've never understood the big problem with same sex marriages, honestly. It doesn't affect "regular" marriages or devalue marriage in any way. I don't see how it's the government's decision to say who can and can't be married. I thought this was a free country with government for the people by the people.

Freedom
noun
1.
the state of being free or at liberty rather than in confinement or under physical restraint: He won his freedom after a retrial.
2.
exemption from external control, interference, regulation, etc.
3.
the power to determine action without restraint.

I'm an atheist, so I don't speak under the prism of any religion. Also I am married and heterosexual.

Marriage is first of all a state of mind, then a type of social contract between two individuals, and in the end, a religious union. At least to my eyes. Some may see it the other way around.
I don't see why the first two would not comply in the case of a homosexual couple. If two men or women are in love and decide to spent their lives together, sharing a house, responsibilities, expenses etc I don't see why this "contract" shouldn't be official and under the protection and recognition of the state.

I'm too in fond of the "Live and let Live" moto...

BUT

I don't like the g@y extremists who try 24/7 to convince us that homosexuality is not only not-normal, but is even more "cooler" than being normal. I can't stand the bombardment of homosexual images, stereotypes and the fact that TV (the global hypnotizer and public will reformer) is so willing to pass the genetic abnormality* of a group of people as something desirable and even a requirement of success in some aspects of life.
You "must" be g@y to be successful in the fashion business. You "must" be g@y to be successful in show business. You "must" be g@y to be successful in daily TV.

As much as I don't like macho men showing off how macho they are, the same way I don't want my children to be witnesses of the every day, g@y showing off. I don't want them brainwashed, thinking that "g@y is ok". It's only ok if you are already g@y. Don't try impose your g@y-ness to me, or my children as if it was the most normal, coolest thing.

*It's proven that g@y people have different brain structure, hormone production and all it's driven by genetic alternation that is common in nature and NOT something to loathe. Some people have six fingers, some people have great flexibility, some have two different colored eyes and some are attracted to the same sex. Please, don't label me as a "racist" because I NOT. I don't speak of "genetic inferiority". All people are equal. We are all humans and we should all have the same rights.
But don't try to convince me that g@y-people must have now more rights than me just because in the past they had none. Don't try to convince me that g@y is normal. It's "common" but NOT normal.

Peace.

It's just sin..and demise to society, really it's the minority that support such issues. No morals or values anymore it seems.

How is it a sin, i had this conversation with my friend the other day, if it was such a sin then why would God have allowed the !@$ gene to be put in play? this is just know surfacing becuz look America is getting more tolerant, i mean Black people have that same rights as everyone else and were only three generations to where that idea was unthinkable. Think of all the "fags" from the past, we know Da Vinci was !@$, only God knows how many !@$ people help orchestrate the Bible, !@$ Popes, !@$ disciples, who knows? no one "came out" for fear of the church and society. I think weve moved past this.
